Well Mr. President...

Where is all that "hope' you promised?

Is it just me or is Yobama preaching a helluva lot of gloom, doom and fear lately?

the man is an empty box

:nope:

Digital_Trucker 02-21-09 12:36 PM

He's what he has been all along, a politician who will tell you what you want to hear to get elected, then finds out that it's not as simple as he thinks it is and has to perform damage control to get the expectations back down.

mookiemookie 02-21-09 01:57 PM

And if he was telling you everything was ice cream and roses, you'd be bitching that he was out of touch with reality.

GoldenRivet 02-21-09 01:59 PM

yep... same as the rest of them.

the point im trying to make is - if he planned on leading by "hope" and "change" why the hell is he going on and on and on about how bad things are and how they are going to only get worse.

the DJI plunges 100 more points every time he appears on TV and starts throwing fear grenades at everyone

come on ... turn water to cash, or perform some divine obama-ish miracle like you promised. Send us a message of "Hope"

i think his campaign was misunderstood...

...maybe he "Hoped" that by the end of his 4 years everyone wouldnt be left with pocket "change".

EDIT:

apologies to neal... i guess "ape" could have racial connotations... even though Bush was called "chimp" by so many for so long. oh well. I have edited it

FDR was a master at this. President Obama would do well to emulate that style.

exactly.

Im not here to bash the guy, but im not here to praise him either.

But from the beginning of his young term we have heard nothing but gloom and doom from the white house.

Mr. Obama needs to read these words from the man that supposedly inspires him:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character & courage by taking away people's initiative & independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could & should do for themselves -Abraham Lincoln

If President Obama were to say that you can bet that someone else would bitch about the wording.

No matter what President Obama (or any other President) says someone will not like it. Reason 345,788 why being President of the United States is a crappy job.

I am less concerned with what President Obama says about the economy but more interested in what Congress *does*.

I am not sure this current plan will work. In my opinion, it is not the best plan, but it might, just might be "good enough". But it is THE plan and we must all work (as much as any of us small fish can) together to help implement the plan.

The plan will take time to see if it works. Besides Economics is much more an art than a science it seems. I will be doing what ever tiny things I can do to support this plan.... I will also be waiting and observing... and keeping my eye on 3 November 09.

So referring to him as "Yobama" and posting that he is an empty box is not "bashing him"?

Actually, I thought he was out of touch with reality when he made all the promises.

Great words. I like them. Unfortunately they don't seem to have been said by Lincoln, nor by anyone of his era.
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors...oln-quotes.htm

It's also possible that Lincoln never said one of the most famous quotes attributed to him: "You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

That one really surprised me.

The classic head-in-sand approach. Works a treat.

CaptainHaplo 02-21-09 07:56 PM

Actually I do see hope and change coming.... And I am not a fan of the President.

Here is why:

His popularity is already plummeting.
His economic policy is already failing to stabilize the markets.
His foreign policy is going nowhere fast.

The public is already becoming disenchanted with the sales schtick he has thrown out - seeing that he cannot deliver.

The public is seeing that he is not the savior - but a politician who will lie to them with a straight face, promise the world and turn his back on those promises.

Many state governments are already looking to find ways of reducing the Federal governments powers.

The public and states are starting to show there IS HOPE yet for our great nation.

As for change - I am seeing that already - with the markets crumbling, investments ceasing, banks failing and debt skyrocketing (Almost $1 TRILLION spent in less than a month in office) - thats actually all about anyone will be seeing - change.... as in coinage.
