Waiting for inspiration to play SH3 again

Haven't you guys ever felt that way ? Like you're on the break and need something to push you to start a new career suddenly ? When everything looks so well known and you know very well when and what to expect from this game..

I installed and uninstalled it already for couple of times. Feels like I can't concentrate on it no more, and it drives me nuts a bit :dead:

Scheisse, I hope it's not the end of me and sh3. :nope:

Arhhhh..

First, there is nothing wrong with taking a break.

Okay, you could watch a good documentary on U-Boats or the Battle of the Atlantic. Both can be found on You Tube. I do this on occasion for both SH3 & 4.

Lately I've been playing a lot of Dangerous Waters (As fun as the Atlantic is, playing hunter-killer with another submarine is equally thrilling), and sometimes I have to push myself to play SH3. When I can sit long still long enough for the game to load, though, I'm engrossed. Also helps that I'm commanding a Type XXI. :O:

Also, up until several months ago, I would've also divided my time with Il-2, but since my only good joystick broke I haven't had much interest. (Consequently, several other games haven't been touched in a while due the aforementioned joystick problems)

Yes I used to watch documentry movies about u-boats in between my patrols or careers.. I remember watching some of them again and again, studying every detail of it. But now... I don;t even want to pronounce that word. Cuz I still feel it's my part of life. U-boats, marine life and all that stuff..
If I'd say I'm not interested in it anymore it would be like retraction of part of me.
Anyway you might be right, I just need a brake I think.. How long ??? God dunno I guess I will feel it inside of me when I'm ready again :-?

Try Sh4 for a while. A switch of theater is sometimes quite refreshing.

Yeah well for me about a year all I could think of was SH3 with GWX 2.1 :)
Damn I remember myself counting minutes till the end of work, just to plunge myself into SH3 and forget everything around haha.. :)
I even made my top work table to look like photo album with u-boats and Kriegsmarine ships :haha:
Co-workes thought I'm obsessed :haha:

Yep I thing they were so right back then..

Currently downloading adventure type game called: Secret Files-Tunguska.
Hoping solving puzzles will bring me back to SH3

I've taken many breaks from SH3 in the last few years. It's not a big deal. Try a different sim or just walk away and do something noncomputer for awhile.

I usually get the itch to go back out on patrol after awhile.

My longest break from SH3 was like a week.. Now it's almost a month and I can't get a grip on it. Maybe I'm trying too hard..

Nevermind going to fetch some beer and order pizza. Got to take my thoughts somewhere else I guess.

Thanks for support guys

Das boot is always good inspiration! So is coming here. There's been plenty of gaps in playing I've had ended by reading through the forums.

Sounds llike you're not cure-able by that though, so like RDP says, nothing wrong with a break. Play some different games. Treat yourself to some new ones, maybe. Try some completely different genres.

And one day you'll go on to subsim, read some posts and think, "I want to sink things too!" Chill, don't let it worry you.

Watching Das Boot helps alot.

Chad 02-13-09 03:59 PM

Contact,

I'm going to be sending you somethin via PM here in a couple of hours.. That might help you out :D

Sub146 02-13-09 04:12 PM

Yea , i recommend watching Das Boot to revive your uboat passion. :salute:

Murr44 02-13-09 04:36 PM

Sounds like you need some "shore leave".:arrgh!: As others have said, take a break from the game for a while.

Larry U-136 02-13-09 05:03 PM

Okay I have run into this from time to time. Get some new mods in there, then have a ubootwaffe DVD viewing night. Das Boot, U-571, documentaries like The Battle of the Atlantic and U-Boat Wars, etc.

If that doesn't help order some U-Boat uniforms and drink a case of Becks......
