Wierd bugs, GWX3.0 and SH3 Commander?

Last night went to play my 9th patrol and my save game wouldnt load..it would just crash (lost about 50,000 tonnes..drat). SH3 Commander was showing my patrol zone as NULL for my save. So I loaded my last save in base and all was well (so I thought) as I made my way back out to my patrol zone off the coast of England (AN18).

I sunk about 4 ships on the way out from a convoy I intercepted in AN52-54 for 24,000 tonnes (all granville frieghters). I surfaced away from enemy ships and saved. Now the strange part.... I got a report of TWO Ore carriers nearby, so I sped over to them, gave each two torps and crash dove due to a enemy warship nearby. Both Ore ships sunk (I watched them go down on external camera), but I got NO "She's going down" for either, and no credit for either sinking.

Bug I thought...so I kept sailing. About 24 hours game time later (in AN18 now) I get a "Ship Spotted". Another Ore Carrier. So I put two stern torps into her, and she sinks. Again I get NO "shes going down" and zero credit for sinking. All three of these ships were ID'ed as British. So they were not neutrals.... Im hoping when I reload this wont continue.

This ever happen to anyone else?? Is my entire career now fooked?

I think, but I'm not sure, you may have encountered the save game bug which relates to saving close to ships that are rendered.you have to save at least 50Km away from any ship or sinking that you have caused, otherwise they will respawn and you will get no credit for the sinking, also it makes a mess of game saves if you save to close to sunken/unsunk ships, limitations of the game I'm afraid:03:something to remember next time if this is the fault:06:

Thanks nikbear... I will keep that in mind. Funny thing is I have been playing SH3 since it came out (and GWX since 1.0) and this is the first time this has happend. I always saved when surfaced, but didnt know about the 50km rule.

Something a little BETA testing would have solved... but it seems game manufacturers dont do much of this these days.

Thanks for the help...

Just prior to saving a game, I always drop deep and go completely silent and listen for anything near, when all is clear, I pop to the surface and save. However, I was always under the impression that it was a 20km radius that was advisable not to have craft in?
May change my game plan and extend that clear radius to 50km so. Interesting.

I dont know how you could tell your clear 50km out... your Hydrophone only hears ships approx 35km in any direction by what I understand.

So do you guys think that my savegame is permenantly dorked? I mean do I have to start with my "Im base" mission again for this patrol? Or will exiting the game and reloading save fix this?

Ok reload seemed to work....whew.

Now Im pissed becuase I shot four torps at TWO Aux cruisers and only ONE exploded (one premature and the other two went under the keel of another) :damn: But one torp did take down the lead cruiser so it could have been worse :yeah:

@ Faamecanic: ...............glad your reload worked. It can be a real pain in the hole when your on a good run and all reloads go to pot, so frustrating! Go get 'em! :yeah:
