Twisty Periscope Thingy....

I was wondering if anyone would be able to make the Twisty Periscope thingy, doodad (whatever you want to call it) mod compatible with GWX 3.0. It was compatible with GWX 1.03 & I used it with 2.1 without noticing any issues.

Thank you...:)

What does it do ?

It attempts to replicate the wire coil that was wound around the periscope(s). The coil was supposed to help stabilize the view of the scopes and to help to reduce their wakes. The mod didn't do those things of course, it was just a nice piece of eye candy.

The main problem was that you had to make it for a specific skin or it looked wierd!:yep:
also was only available I think for the VII's, the mod was by Flakmonkey, RB was going to do something with it but never got around to it.:)

Works fine in my install of 3.0.It doesn't work in yours?

I use 1.03, I'm going on what others have said in the past, the periscope shaft color changes with the various skins, from memory!!:-?:yep:

I've got it installed in 3.0 for VIIB's.....can't honestly say if I've noticed any colour change in the periscope shaft though :hmm:

Honestly can't recall where I got it from and there is no Readme with it so I've put it on one of my FF accounts:

IT IS NOT MINE

Let me know if it changes the colour of the periscope shaft because I've only ever enabled it once for a screenshot of the eagle on the conning tower. :hmm:

A better way of doing the Twisty Thing would be to
extract the needed Twisty 3D model,
place it in it's own dat file.
Add a node to each Turm on the scopes,
then make the twist thing an upgrade option in Game.
It would only become available at the correct time,
(with or without paying renown)
and would not affect any Skins.
It would have it's own skin.
And if one wanted it painted in anyway?
It would be easy to do without messing with
the main skin.
