One more question (sorry)
Im trying to make a new install of SH3 on my HDD in order to have GWX3, i have GWX2 running on my other install of SH£. When i run the setup from the CD i get the option to modify, repair or remove but not to make a fresh install. Can someone please help?
I want to install GWX3 but do not want to stop with my GWX2 games Thanks  |
Rename your current SH3 install to anything besides SilentHunterIII. (Or whatever you named it during install) Run the setup, select 'Repair,' and you should have a new install when it's finished.

Now im getting error number 0x80040707 when trying to reinstall :(
Im running Vista but this hasnt been a problem until 15 minutes ago :dead: |
This is a dll error usually associated with your DVD player.
Perform a registry clean and ensure you are logged as Administrator for the extra installation. |

Thanks for the tips. I spent most of last night trawling the net for a fix and none worked, it seems that its a Vista problem. Reformat seems the way to go and i think im heading back to Xp |

Copy everythibg from your your original SH3 folder to each new folder. Run GWX 2.1/3.0 on these new folders. You should now have 3 working Sh3 clients, one vanilla, one GWX 2.1 and one GWX 3.0. And scrap that Vista crap. |
I always do as Balle Klorin posted
Install game and patch then copy folder as many times as I need |
Ive got Vista sqaure in the crosshairs of my scope, four fish are flying straight towards it...

Remember to use Multi SH3 for your saved games :yep:

The good news is that i have GWX3 running on my laptop and a very reasonable speed. Currently 8.9.39 and sneaking in Blyth at dusk. Just trying it out. So ill be SH3ing on my laptop and my refrain from reformatting the PC until i get a decent sized external HDD.

And to the OP, you have a laptop so why worry about external HDD. You allready have it. Just hook up the laptop and transfer whatever you like. And this time remember to partition your drive before installing a new OS. The system drive for XP doesn't need much space, 10gb is fine, and you can use the rest for backup and game install. Installing games on C:\Programfiles\, ... is baaaad :arrgh!: |
