SH3 on Windows 7 Beta Problems
 

Hi has any body here managed to get SH3 to run on the new Windows 7 Beta yet as i'm trying to but having no luck, I think the Starforce protection is bugging out on the new OS.

Any hints or ideas would be appreciated.

Edit: Well looking further into the problem it seems that it is Starforce that is the problem after finding the version number and comparing it to driver versions on Starforce's website it seems that any version before 3.5 will not work on Windows 7 so thinking that I've got an original disc and cannot get SH3 to work other people with original disc's are going to have the same problem when Windows 7 is officially released.

It's available in 2 versions 32 bit and 64 bit, I'm running the 64 bit version so I'm starting to think that's where my problem lies with SH3.

The 32 bit version to download is 2.43 gb and the 64 bit version is 3.3 gb. Make sure you write down the activation key they give you before you download or the copy you download will only last 30 days.

So when is Windows 7 the full version is going to be out?

Windows Vista was released quite a while after the beta came out. I imagine if Microsoft takes the time to sort out as many bugs as possible it could take a long time. :lol:

The recent discs for SHIII come already patched to 1.4b and Starfarce free. If you really like the game it might be worth it to invest $10 and get one.

It's serious reason for using XP instead of new Microsoft OSs.

i run sh3 on w7 without any problems at all. sh3 loads up 30-40% faster than on XP/Vista (GWX3, some huge sound mods), and i have about 30% more FPS :up:

but i didnt install a new copy of sh3, i've just copied the silent hunter iii folder as a whole to a new hdd.

Can you post a few more details as to how you got it working please MX as I have gone back and installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7 (downloaded both versions) and the Starforce is still crapping out not recognizing the OS even after upgrading the Starforce driver.:nope:
