Sorry if this is covered in an older post, just didn't have the time to sort through 100 pages.

What are the tonnage requirements, if any, for the medals-particularly the Bronze Star (Campaign Star), the Silver Star (patrol star), and Navy Distinguished Service Medal (Submarine Service Medal).

I have been running the Porpoise Class USS Shark from the get-go and haven't gotten a new conning tower-it is now late 42 in the campaign. I know the first Shark was lost in 42-but I have seen the same boat pop up in a submarine school mission-late war conning tower and all. What gives?

PS-though not really important: Where the heck do you actually find a German Raider?

You don't. I've never seen one. :D I think all of one was ever sunk historically by a US sub.

It depends on your patrol rating which is based on total tonnage.

Tonnage helps, and is a factor, but completing patrols and returning to base with little or no damage to your crew and boat is probably more important as far as promotions and upgrades go.

If you use the search function correctly, you will find many threads on this subject. Just type in "medals" and select "SH4" to search in, and you will probably find your answer. Keep in mind that it all is dependant upon what version and mods you may be using.

I dunno I have really good patrols and never seem to get upgrades anymore
do some mods conflict???

The chance of an upgrade when ending a patrol is a random roll of cyberdice. However editing the unit parts configuration files for each sub to remove the overlap in tower availability dates is supposed to help. Each conning tower is available for the entire war so even if you are successful in a roll and could get an upgrade it might be negated by recieving the same tower you already have. Edit all those files to end the tower interval the day before the new one is available and you might just recieve one on your next career.
