Promotion
 

Under Promotions in personal files it says I must complete a patrol yet i have gone on eight patrols. Anybody know whats wrong?

Have all your crew gone on eight patrols?
Do you have any promotions to give?

Yes I enlisted more men but that was at the start. I just bought the game it is probably some noob mistake.

You crewmen also must have sufficient amount of experience points in order to receive a promotion.

BTW, Welcome aboard! :D

There's an experience bar in each crewman's description. When it's full you can promote him.

you can always "force" promotions if you have Sh3 Commander :cool:

one one hand, you shouldn't be able to promote under qualified personnel.

Not getting promotion for crew
 

New here, but I have found I have the same problem. I had one crew member who was outlined in blue when I was getting ready for the next patrol. I figured he was ready for a promotion, his experience bar was full, he had 1 or 2 points over what the bar said was full. I tried to promote him but it gave me the same error "have to have a patro " or something close to that, and his screen showed he had completed 2 patrols. Is there something I am doing wrong? would like to promote him and anybody else that comes up. Thanks

I experienced this also. I now believe that the answer is that two conditions must be met: 1) is to have one or more crew members with enough experience to warrant a promotion and 2) is to have enough tonnage racked up to have earned the right to promote. I infer that this tonnage requirement is per patrol, and I cannot tell you what it is. But I do recall that in my few patrols in a type II, I was unable to promote anyone, but then learned to conserve my eels. And I have always had one or more promotions available after type VII patrols (14 torps).

In any event the error message is poorly phrased and reminds me of some DOS error messages written by Microsoft. :)
