[REL] Env-combi: FINAL VERSION

UPDATED 1/2/09

manos's combi-env

this is the final version of the combi-envinroment.

the new things here are :

1. new waves ! just see them (becuase of that ,this mod will run smoothy only on a strong pc)
don't worry about the sensors becuase the height of the new waves is the same as gwx
2. new tweaks on reflections and heavy tweaks on reflection maps, new main sun reflections (the polygons effect is almost 'gone')
3. i used as base the colours of olc with some changes ( new nights with water more to blue than black)

i don't put screenshots becuase i realy believe you should give this a try !

combi env-test version2

changes:
1.the main sun reflections are from stock
2.tweaks at the reflections, now the polygon effect is heavily reduced
3.water speed increased (again)
4.tweaks at sunset-sunrise (now the sun is shining till the end or the start of appearance)

screens:

the tweaked sunset-sunrise:

the reduced polygon effect:

and here is the most badly polygons i met during testing (it's happening when the polygons meet the main sun reflection but is far better than the older situation) :

ps1:if this mod is heavy for your system ,then set the lodfactor value to a lower number
ps2:only the sky colours and env colours of atlantic are tweaked

any feedback will be appriciated

combi env-test version

this is a combi of wac3 and olce2.i tried to eliminate these ungly squares of sun reflections, they are still visible but more less (as far i tested didn't notice something wrong.please test it , in all conditions and hours ,and let me know if you notice something that is not ok or suggestions)

the tweaks i made are :
1. put inside olce2 the clouds of wac3 (made them more trasparent in order not to hide the sun a lot)
2.now the main sun reflections are from wac3(like most) ,and also tweaks on cloud's reflections based on wac3
3.speed up a little the water
4.underwater vissibility increased and also now you can see a little above the water

screens:

http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/3...296pat2.th.jpg

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/7...6984lp3.th.jpg

http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/5...1265mr9.th.jpg

ps1: i must thank OLC for giving us the olce2 and HANSOLO78 for the wac3

ps2 :i had tweak only the sky colors of atlantic.if you like it ,i will tweak and the others

it is jsgme ready, just install it last on your mod list ,

Thanks for your mod, is very good

Hi to you, I have been using the test version and I think it is very good, really adds some depth and clarity to the water, thank you very much for this one.

Perhaps post some before and after screenies so people get an idea what you have done is very subtle.

thank you rascal, you are right about the screens but its extremely difficult to capture the same screens in order to see the difference . you see these polygons are 'moving' and you don't know when they show up .

and a question to everyone who maybe knows something.

i made a thought but i can't (yet) find the right path.because of the fact that these polygons will not show up for some days (game days) makes me think that something (some value or values) change and the reflection is screwed . i thought that maybe the wind direction cause the problem and set it not to change but the game (even it shows that the wind direction is stady) in fact changes the direction becuase it 'reads' the mission values.if i set to 'read' the values from the controllers the polygons TOTTALY DISSAPEAR (yes, yes) but the game messes with sun timings.

so , i ask anybody who knows , how i can make the wind stady in one direction? is it possible? (without touching the wind speed changes of course)

i also ,in some experiments , thought that maybe the angle of sun and horizontal is the problem.i changed it from 55 (in almost all envs is set at this number) to 0 ,later at other values but this doesn't seem to have any effect to the game . why is that ?

I'm not a moder,so I can't give you some wise techincal tips but I have tested many env mods on my SH 3 instalation and the only one (so far) with out the polygons is Thomsens water mod.
In different weather and sea states and no polygons.:yep:
I don't know what's the trick ,maybe there are there only good camuflaged.
Maybe a little talk with Thomsen could give you some new ideas.

All the best in 2009

i am sure that if he can help about this he will show up ! the sun reflections are very beautyfull .phillip have eliminate them.the point here is to have them at full power but to avoid the polygon effect

best wishes for the new year to you too!

I'm trying out your version 2 and I must say that i like it.
Never before have I noticed,on any other env mod,the moonlight effect on a sub.:o
If you don't mind some suggestions.
Could it be possible to tone down the brightness of the moonlight on the u-boot and crew. It's weird, looking from external view, in a dark night at your shining vessel.
Too bright for my taste.
At heavy overcast nights there is no moon in the sky(well there is but covered with clouds),the moonlight effect is still illuminating my boat.

I think that the idea with moonlight is great but needs a little more work to be perfect.:yep:

Keep up the excellent work!

dani,in fact the colours you see are not mine but olc's work .i made some additions and tweaks that explained at first post (read it carefully).for the problem with the moonlight you describe after my test version run the 'OLCE2 - Adjusted GWX 2.1 Crew Skins' .this will solve your problem

the test-versions (both) running ok to gwx 2.1 and gwx 3 . i never test them to other versions.so,as i have read from some threads here, this problem has to do with ati cards.i never had that problem and i am afraid i can't help you (but someone else maybe knows ) did you have a flat sun with gwx 2.1 also? (with my versions you can't use the flat sun fix,it will mess the colours)

ps: i assuming that you disable all env mods from your mod list and you enable the WHOLE combi env-test version2 and not parts of it

java`s revenge 01-11-09 06:55 AM

I am using sh3+1.4+gwx3 and i do have a geforce 7600 card.
