Doh! Game Stopped Working
 

Oh man....

I just got my Balao class sub upgrade so I logged in here and found a weathered skin for it. Used JSGME and loaded it right up.

Restarted the game and Whammo... it won't even get to the black "please wait" screen to load. It just 'dings' a sound and freezes.

I removed the new weathered skin.. still won't load. I removed ALL mods and it still won't load.

I went to use the JSGME > Task > Compare game fiels to snapshot
with the snapshot I took when I installed it without any mods yet and there was no "Compare game files to snapshot" option. Sigh. I am positive I did it.

What should I do?

Uninstall SH IV and start from the beginning all over for the 4th time?

The >Documents > SH4 folders and subfolders might be able to be preserved so I don't have to start the campaign from zero again maybe? maybe? Pleading here. :)

Anxiously awaiting advice.

Yep, just tried it and it won't do that either.

I'm heading back to my room to grab the game CD/DVD... I've got 15 minutes or so until I make the decision to uninstall. Right now it won't work at all (even making a new career).. so I'm running out of options unless someone comes up with a magic trick. :D

It's not all terrible.. I'll start over with all my fun sweet MODs and this time crank up the difficulty level and it'll seem like a new game...... again (4th time). Okay, I'm laughing because my attitude about it is the only thing I can control. :)

Bummer....Sounds like something got corrupted there. I am surprised removing the mod or starting a new carreer didn't fix the problem. Oh well, we have have all seen that black screen and the dreaded message "Silent hunter has stopped working" yada yada yada. Hank in there and don't give up on the new skins. Good luck with new install!

Okay, game uninstalled.... and reinstalled.

I tried to cheat and save the:

>documents
...>SH4
.....>Saved games sub-folders here

Files and then jump right in where I left off but the game figured out my sneaky plan and won't let it work.

Ah well... starting a brand new career now. I won't mess with changing my Sub name this time or the little things because I'll probably have to uninstall and reinstall in four days (my average time). heh

what other mods are running? i've had probs with PEx when added with a few others
