Crew Special Abilities Gone Wild

On my patrol #4 I had two Engine Room petty officers become sonar and radar specialist and a Torpedoman and Watchman become Diving Specialist. I had to rearrange the crew to to take advantage of them. This time I am in port and the proliferation of new specialists is hard to take. Four new Expert Sonarmen, seven new Expert Radarmen, an Expert Watchman and one more Engine Expert(Diving). The entire aft Torpedo Room has apparently been hanging out in the Conning Tower instead of learning how to be better Torpedomen. Anyone need a few experts for their crew?

Here is a screen shot of my crew.

Same thing happened to me a couple careers ago. I had 33 special abilities, many duplicates. I tried to spread them out evenly over each watch although since they are 'passive' abilites I don't know if that is neccessary or even helps. TMO/RSRD.

This happens to me nearly every carrer after a number of 'sucessfull' mission.

What makes it even more frustrating is that all those passive skills will push those with active skills 'off the page' so the actives cannot be selected

So the only alternative is to say 'Good job sailor' and send them on there way. In other words trade them out for unskilled sailors while in port.

Im runnng RFB+RSRD btw.

This career I am playing at the 'Realistic' level. That is, when you start a career you choose the difficulty level, easy, normal, hard, realistic. I don't recall if realistic is offered in the stock version or if it is a TMO or RSRD thing. But since starting this career I am getting no special abilities during the game even tho I have sunk as many as 14 ships on one patrol. The only way I get special abilities is when I promote crew members between patrols. Maybe this is is a one time thing, but it is new to me.

So there's that I guess.

I just want to know what some of these special abilities actually DO. OK, "Increase speed" is pretty self explanatory but "Increase fanatical chance" WTF does that mean?

Increases their chance of becoming a fanatic... Its a carry over from the U-boat campaign I believe... all for the motherland and all that. Gives a slight performance boost for other sailors in his compartment... out of fear I guess :rotfl:

Somewhere on these forums is a breakdown of the different skills and what they do / mean. If I get time Ill look for it and post a linky.

Hrm well it was on that 'other' forum not to cross post here is the link http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...5/m/8471034107
