Total Virtual U Boat Tour - Unique Resource
I was not sure if ppl here know about this virtual tour of the U 505 at the Museum in Chicago, i saw this tour years ago and they have it off line for now, trying to get it set up to run without a Quicktime Plug in that you will need. but i checked with them yesterday and they gave me the archived link
it is an amazing resource. http://archive.msichicago.org/exhibi...our/index.html |

It gets reposted every so often, but there's no sticky for it, so it's good that somebody like you brings it up now and again.:sunny:

Very good find.

If they pulled that one down I can't wait to see what they replace it with.

Yeah, have seen this one before, it's always worth
another look though :yep::up: RDP |
Going to add this link on my site, thanks

Cool link. I remember touring the boat a few years back. I found it interesting how real but subtle the differences are between German and American boats as I've visited the Cobia as well. The US boat seems larger, but the German one FEELS larger, if that makes any sense.

Well, the Type IX is a pretty big boat in itself. I visited U-505 back in 1962. She was still outside then, and they had holes cut in the sides so you could walk through. Too bad I don't remember any of it besides being there.
