Ideas? :-?
Oh it says also my, detection signature file (translated from Dutch to English) is between 8 and 29 days old.

I'm not sure, but McAfee has been criticized in the past. You should try clamav. It has worked well in the past it is also FOSS

for some reason, Mcafee isn't updating its virus signatures when you first log on,and that is why you are getting the message of course. Have you tried a manual update?

Difficult to say what the problem is just from reading your message here. You could try posting on the Mcafee forum ( or looking to see what solutions may have been posted as I think this is not an unknown problem) and perhaps give a few more details about your machine and any recent changes you may have made :)

 Thanks, a manual update doesn't solve the problem. I will try the link.

You sure its not just that the license to get updates hasn't expired? Unfortunatly virtualy all AV companies expect you to buy a new license every 12-36 months.
