Who is 2nd in command on "our" boats?
As I understand it, there were 3 officers aboard u-boat, plus the captain:
Chief Engineer 1st Watch officer - second in command, responsible for torpedo data during surface attack 2nd Watch Officer - responsible for watch crew, artillery and radio room Unlike on u-boats in SH3, there was no Weapon officer, and the Navigation officer was Petty Officer (noncommissioned). What do you think, how would our officers relate to the real u-boat officers? And who is the second in command on our u-boats? |
Second in command on my boat is Bernard.

To me there doesn't seem to be any direct comparison. In RL (real life), if the commander was incapacitated or killed the IWO would assume his position. As far as I know there's no provision in SH III for us (the commander/player) to take on the role of a subordinate should we get killed. If we die the game/mission ends.

I would say my most senior Lt, with the most experience, is my default XO. |
I always take the guy who starts as Weapons Officer to be my 1WO and the Watch Officer to be my 2WO, and only use them in those capacities. I have to pretend a lot, but it works for me.:sunny:

The hard part is that in the game they are both fully capable of doing either job. Takes a lot of pretending.
