Using mission editor as an "intelligence" tool.

I know, I know...but. I found an old post (2006) :

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...+enemy+subnets

I tried following the instructions, made my date 10/1939 in mission editor and it shows nothing of mines or subnets. Now, I know for a fact the south approach to Lock Ewe has a subnet...I ran into it in the dark of night! so...why isn't this quite real subnet not showing up in the mission editor for the time period I am in (9-10/1939)?

Select the ordinance and I think they show.

How do you select the ordinance? I read what little info there was in the mission editor manual and I can't find anything about changing what is shown on the ME map?

When you open the scripted or Campaign.SCR file,
on the right hand list.
Click on ordenance

Open campaign.scr and you'll see the minefields and nets. To see the mines distribution within minefield, click on it and select Show minefield distribution from View menu.

P.S. I just looked at Loch Ewe defense, and I wouldn't go there. :D (the image above is not Loch Ewe)

I see the problem now, I think. The original thread said to open the Campaign_RND file...not the SCR. I'll know for sure after work.

Thanks.
PS...after nosing around the subnet, in the dark, and seeing what I could of the defenses...I got the heck out of there!

Reveal the location of this enemy task force or you will be court-martialled and SHOT!

prowler3 11-24-08 01:25 PM

That worked. I still don't see the individual mines...but that is no big thing as I have NO plans on trying to navigate a minefield!:p

Glad I backed out of Lock Ewe...there is no way in short of surfacing (and that ain't happening!).

Is there a way to remove everything but the nets and mines in the Mission Editor view? On my COPY of "campaign_SCR", of course...not the original.

Thanks guys.

I can't say, I'm bound by the strict orders from BdU. Besides, there's no task force. It just a bunch of sailing boats preparing for a regatta around Gibraltar. . . :o Ooops! Did I just mentioned Gibraltar?

In the View menu enable the Show minefield distribution.

It took a bit more than that...I have to select the mine area with the pointer and then it shows individual mine locations. Either way...I'm not going there! So...is there a way to delete all the other info from my copied "campaign_SCR" file, so that only "ordinance" (subnets and minefields) shows? Other than that it's all working...the Reich's spies are doing excellent work obtaining information on harbor defenses.
