So here's the story...


I thought I could decimate a destroyer on the surface with my deck gun, so I proceeded to engage the target. About 3/4 of the way into my assault the dang thing turned into my starboard side and increased speed.

Every time I have taken on a british war ship with a deck gun I always lose a minimum of one crew member. :down: Proven, destroyers are bad for your health.

the Destroyer is not showing any sign of your attack did you remember to change the shells you are using to AP and not HE ??? :hmm:

the best way i have found is to be at extreme range and directly astern and be ready to dive.

Not 100% but I believe SWCowboy plays GWX and if so....there are only HE shells available in the mod.

I blew off one of the ship's deck guns from the bow, if I'm not mistaken it's missing in all those pictures :lol:

She was shooting off signal flares when I was having my way with her before she turned on me and rammed my boat...

Jim that was a rare occasion where I wasn't running GWX, it's easier to load that way when I'm messing around with new sub skins :cool:

I do, too engage DD's quite often on surface, but never, NEVER take it up close and personal.

Getting caught by a DD during a harbour raid is suicide though, no place to dive. Getting caught by 2 DDs during said raid is instant death. They ram you easily even if you're submerged.

I'm never going to Dover... again.

Yesterday I hit and sank a J&K class with a "down the throat" shot. It was our 12th day out (Nov. 41) of our 2nd Med patrol. I was getting pretty frustrated with the lack of contacts & the frequent Hurricane attacks; we're within Malta's air covage radius, and was getting ready to pack it in & go home with nothing to show for it.:cry: About 5:30am (game time) we came across the J&K escorting a coastal freighter. I waited until the destroyer was almost on top of us & took a shot. Crash dived & on the way down I got the report that the torpedo had detonated & killed the J&K. Came up again and sank the coastal freighter with little effort. Slim pickings but at least we managed to get something...

I was having a blast in an online game with some guys in COMSUBSPAC last night and danced a little with the destroyers... I got ran over again followed by a depth charge attack, my luck keeps getting better and better! :lol:

It's hard to crash dive when you're only working with 50m of water, and when I went after that DD it was all on its own. I thought firing first always had the advantage, especially if you hit it right... like yall said those stupid things have aces spades and jacks up their sleeve to the very end :nope:
