Game crashes after loading my saved games.
Okay so the game works fine when I load a saved game that's either ''after mission'' or ''before mission'' i.e. when it starts in base. But if I save my game during a patrol the game will almost always crash a few seconds after the ''Not so long ago...'' text disappears from the screen. This is GWX2.1 and SH3 commander, with auto-rollback enabled. Also, ever since my flotilla transferred from Wilhemshaven to Lorient in 1940 I keep getting the message ''New base : Wilhemshaven'' when I load a game. I tried transferring to other flotillas a few times and now it's 1942 and I'm based in St-Nazaire with the 7th/13th, but the game still reminds me that I have a new base in Wilhelmshaven every single time a load a saved game. I'm getting a little bit annoyed and feel that it may be somehow related to the shotty saved games I've been dealing with. It feels like something is corrupted or isn't working properly... So what do you guys say? Re-install?

Do you use any other mods besides GWX?
Could be a mod conflict - I had (almost) the same problem where all my Black Sea career saves crashed on loading, but I got it solved after disabling some mods and upgrading others. In my case the culprit was a mod changing ASW unit weapon loadouts, and once I got rid of it all my savegame crashes were gone. Seems that I can now save even when there're other units visible... |
Did you install the Bug fixes?
|
I have sometimes the same problem especially when i load where the game is close to convoy, make sure you are alone somewhere at sea when you save the game!
Community units is also to heavy for me (computer is 7 years old) |
Mods I use, first the GWX bunch: -Alternative flotillas -Enhanced damage effects -Integrated orders -Late war schnorchel mounted rwr -Lite Harbor traffic -Main movie - Das Boot -VIIC/41 player sub -Alternate loadscreen (fullcircle) And then the rest : -Torpedo damage final ver2.0 -Lifeboats&Debris_v3B I think I installed the bug fixes but actually I'm not sure ... Do you mean the ones for GWX? Can someone point me to a download location? Thanks folks.

Before saving the game dive, manualy check the hydrophones for any contact. If all is clear, surface and save.
Do not save if you heard a contact or if you are less than 50km from land. hat way you should minimize the chance for CTD. |
I have exactly the same issue as PKK and more or less the same install, bar a few different MODS here and there, i too shall try what has been suggested and see if that works. It really does get frustrating when you save a game, at some unGodly time of the night/morning, only to load it up after work and the lil feker crashes on you! I have had to restart careers due to this problem and loading through previous saves did not seem to alleviate the problem either. I though i was in the all clear until this again happened last night, "Not so long ago..............CTD error..............Silent Hunter has encountered some problems yadda yadda yadda yadda" Arrrgghhh!:damn:

It's not been mentioned so I'd like to add this one: if you decide to save a game in the same area (grid square) as a previous save give it a new name. Otherwise the previous save will be overwritten & you could wind up with a ctd; it's happened to me before.:damn:
If you have the community units mod installed that can be a problem. A lot of people, myself included, have had crashes with it. I've also had it crash when 2 large convoys were spawned very close (within 20-25km) to my position. Fortunately this has only happened once. Finally, as was previously stated, don't save within 50 km of anything. This includes aircraft too. |

what is the mod that you have delete? |
Albrecht Von Hesse's Increased ASW. The culprit wasn't necessarily IASW per se, though, but all my mods combined...

And are you using Community units to without a crash ? |

Here is a four page thread with various ideas, solutions and conditions.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=crash+desktop In the end it seems the real problem is as elusive as the cure for cancer... :damn: |
