skins help/request

hey,
i am looking into releasing a U-552 skin with the emblem attached. however, when i tried my skin, the emblem was in the right position, but backwards, duplicated, and in a few different places.

what i am looking for is someone to redo the lightmap so i can place the emblem in the right spot. there is even a spot in the lower right corner where you can put it. i am unbale to do it myself or i would have.

Sledgehammer427 11-16-08 09:12 PM

bump, please, this would be great for those who don't want the same ol' same ol' emblems

Sledgehammer427 11-17-08 07:32 AM

are you sure?
i figured that it was universal, seeing as how the .dat's are relatively similar...

Sledgehammer427 11-17-08 07:50 AM

well, i was just annoyed that with certain U-boats there is a lack of proper placement of the symbol (my case in point, U-552)
i mean, don't get me wrong, i love the menu-select symbols, but they don't do what they are supposed to do (face the same direction, keep a small-size thing)

evan82 11-17-08 10:56 AM

I have not got this problem, because the XXI conning tower is big. Look on my sig. I "paint" my emblem on the conning. In smaller U-Boats with smaller connings tower the emblem should be smaller and painting in the very correct place. If it is not "painting" corectly, then is display incorectly on the U-Boat hull.:yep:

@mikhayl, a "front emblem" mod would be ideal, possibly have it so only certain emblems would be placed? i would make the emblems, possibly set up a request thread where i can make emblems to work on the mod:hmm:

BRILLIANT!

@evan82,
i am planning on making my own tricky little symbol (a stick arrow with a pair of feathers tipped backwards) across the WHOLE type XXI Tower
/_________\///

like that. you know.of course it wouldnt be a stick arrow, it would be a real sharp looking swordy-thing :yep:

Your looking for a way to do this?

I did a few Turms like this but never completed them all.
And All the work is lost but simple to do.
;)

The emblems in that picture still exist

The emblems are not what's of interest.

It's the work on the Turm that holds all the keys!!

That download has a "Turm9c_1_hd" dat file included. Isn't that it?

cheers

of course, privateer got the jump on us...
thats great for the type IX, but, as per the heated arguements, what about the type VII?

UberTorpedo 11-18-08 12:57 PM

Sledgehammer427

I don't think there are any arguments. I'm just trying to help out :yep:.

Privateer is da man!!

Privateer, I'm so glad to see your post... You have just reminded me of a mod project I started a long time ago and gave up trying to finish! :damn:

In my quest to find ultimate Viking emblem for my boat, I was trying recreate U-404's full-turm emblem on an IXC turm...

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ingG/u-404.jpg

But, as you can see, even though I managed to get the texture positioned correctly, other elements of the tower picked up the emblem texture too - notably the front of the tower and the wind/sea deflectors:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_01_46.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_01_54.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_02_54.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_03_00.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_03_23.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_03_29.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_03_41.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_04_05.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_04_30.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...3-04_04_43.jpg

I understand why it was displaying like this, but couldn't figure out how to fix it!

I guess you must have figured out a way to tell the model to use other areas of the texture, or something like that?

Madox58 11-18-08 05:58 PM

The same thing I did on the IX can be done to all Turms.

1st, in a 3D program rotate the left Emblem placement and flip it.

All emblems now face forwards!
Resize those if you want bigger side areas to draw on.

2nd, for the front area, I created a new 3D panel shaped like the Turm
and UV-mapped it to a new tga file placed in the dat.

I found the areas on the original skin to create the tga.

By useing this tga and putting what I want on it I get the front emblem.
I place the New tga with the drawing in the tex folder for easy access.

VikingGrandad,

I can modify a new panel to fit the turm as per your pictures.
Create an Emblem and you got that look.
