Meet the newest member of my crew!

his name is "Gunner"

9 weeks old.

Since Saturday he has learned sit, lay down, fetch and he was house trained in 4 days! We tied a little bell to the door knob and he has learned to go ring it when he needs to go outside.

Ha! Haben will! I love German shepard dogs. We had Collie, Dachshounds and my grandfather had a whole flock of (quite wild) several different hunting dogs, but we never had German Shepard Dogs, unfortunately.

Im very impressed with his obedience training. he has only had one class (yesterday) we go again next tuesday.

the instructor admired his "personality".

He is very laid back, and wherever i go he walks right by my side as if on a leash.

By mid December i hope to have a very smart, well behaved pup on my hands.

@Steamwake... its pretty simple, but takes patience and vigilance.

if you have a puppy and you want to use that trick, just put the bell on the door knob hanging low enough where he can bump it with his nose.

about every hour or hour and a half go to the door and enthusiastically use a key word like "Go potty!" or "outside!" and reach down and give the bell a ring for a second or two.

depending on the breed this will become a routine within a few days or even a week or two.

eventually the dog associates the bell on the door with going to use the bathroom or going outside to play etc.

if he desires to be outside you will know it when you hear that "ring ring ring"

works like a charm!

Nice pup. Judging by his paw size, he will be a big dog. He is a smart bugger to learn all of that in such a short time.
