This is driving me NUTS!!!

Why my game CTD almost every time when my torpedoes hit?
I really want to fix this. It is highly annoying to try to approach the convoy in mid 1943 for a half an hour and make a succesful attack and then CTD.
I vaguely remember seeing a thread here some time back but can't find it.
Please help me to enjoy the game again.

System:
Intel Core2 Duo CPU E4500 2.2 GHz
4GB RAM
NVidia Gforce 9600GT

What's your mod-set-up!
We need more info...always!

Oh, I forgot. Here it is:

Anybody?

Myxale 11-11-08 04:31 AM

My guess is the Community units.

Disable them and try again. Crashes on torpedo hits is mostly ships related.

:hmm:

4MB ram? :o

Anyway, I use the same GPU and don't experience crashes. What's your operating system?

conus00 11-11-08 12:06 PM

Yep 4GB. I intend upgrade to 8GB soon.
I am currently running fresh installation of XP Professional with SP3 fully updated.

@Myxale and Mikhayl I will try to disable community mods but I have never had a problem with it. It's worthy the shot though. Thx

I can sing this tune too.
The Units worked for me too on my last set-up, but I could never made them work with my recent one!:shifty:

I still try to figure this one out! :hmm:

On my last setup I didn't use OLCE2 but I absolutely love Thompsen's Water so I gave it a try in this installation. Maybe it is OLCE2/Community units conflict?

Hitman 11-11-08 12:26 PM

I think he actually means 4 GB

conus00 11-11-08 12:53 PM

Oh, hahaha. Good catch. Of course 4GB. How stupid of me to make the same mistake twice.

conus00 11-11-08 03:51 PM

Ok, here is the update: It really seems that the Community units mod was the culprit. I am half way to the Carribean now, 4 ships sunk and no crashes so far. On the other hand most of my crashes happened why attacking the convoy. These four were lone targets.
I will definitely keep posted.
The only thing which sucks is that I am loosing the "variety" of the targets. Well, I guess I will have to trade quantity for the quality. :damn:

Interesting. I'm running the community units and haven't had a CTD since installing them. Would suggest to me that it's what community units did to one of the files that another mod had changed. If you still want to use the community units you could try installing the mods in a different order to see whether that makes any difference.

Murr44 11-12-08 05:36 AM

I had the community units mod enabled in this order:

1) AOTD-AA-Bugfix
2) Community Units
3) OLCE 2
4) Moon Reflections for OLCE 2

and it ctd in the harbour. There's just something about that mod (community units) that causes problems for me.

As far as I understand from other topics, the Units have some ships that were made the old (ancient) way by cloning a already existing unit.
Thus some already have the ID references of existing ships, and thus they clash!
