Your personal "Favorite Five" Sci-Fi movies.
Skybird's post about Ridley Scott doing the movie adaptation of Joe Haldeman's "Forever War" got me thinking about my Favorite Five Sci-Fi movies. I'm curious to see what other folks like. Here are my Favorite Five picks:
1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) 2. Silent Running (1972) 3. Fantastic Voyage (1966) 4. The War of the Worlds (1953) 5. The Day the Earth Stood Still. (1951) BTW, Roland Emmerich is doing a remake of Fastastic Voyage due out in 2010. |
1. Andromeda Strain (The original one, not the cheezy remake)
2. 2010 3. Logans Run 4. Silent Running 5. Philadelphia Experiment |
|
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Planet of the Apes 3. Alien $. Star Wars oringinal 5. Terminator 2 |
Aye T2 was one of the exeptions to the rule that the sequel is worse than the original. Great SFX.
|
1) John Carpenter's (The Thing)
2) Alien 3) Time Machine 4) Predator 5) Species |
1. Bladerunner
2. Fifth Element 3. Alien & Aliens 4. Sunshine 5. Event Horizon (Not sure about this one, I have seen it only once, maybe ten years ago, but I remember I thought it kicked ass) |
Hmmm...
1. Forbidden Planet 2. Aliens 3. The Thing (Carpenters) 4. Planet of the Apes (original) 5. Star Trek 2 Wrath of Khan (Khaaann....!) sorry had too... :yep: |
Geez
there is only one. It is
Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Honorable Mentions The Thing (James Arness) The Matrix Alien Twilight Zone (William Shatner as the passenger who sees a Gremlin ripping up the airplane wing.) (Sentimental favorite: Leprecaun in the Hood) |

But then my favorite sci-fi list would probably get me labelled an idiot anyway. 1) The Time Machine (1960, with Rod Taylor) 2) TimeRider 3) Destination Moon 4) The Illustrated Man 5) Terminator Actually my favorite things to watch are Firefly (the best science fiction-western tv series ever made, with the possible exception of The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr.) and Babylon 5 (not a tv series, but a 120-hour-long movie). |

I never saw that movie. Is it any good? |
I'm a Trekie,"Make it so"
The War of the Worlds (1953)
Time Machine(1960) 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) Planet of the Apes Star Trek 2 Wrath of Khan E.T.,& Peter Pan, The Borg, when Riker commanded the Saucer section diversion |
Not in any order but.
Forbidden Planet (love that old cheese) Fifth element Predator, who needs witty dialogue when you have MUSCLES? The first 3 Stat Wars movies Terminator 1 |
Ooh! Ooh! War of the Worlds! Forbidden Planet! I forgot those! Can I add them to my list?
Also love Earth Versus The Flying Saucers. Cheesy title, great movie for the time. Independence Day was a rip-off of it. |
