Periscope wake
I've tried searching but probably not using the right word combo.
Has anyone tried to provide/improve the wake on the periscope. We've all seen various footage I'm sure of the "mini" wake caused by a periscope moving through the water and yet in SHIV there is no wake per se only a "trail" in the water behind it. Is there a mod out there or a WIP?? |
I don't think so unless the person making it hasn't told anybody but I highly doubt that anyone is making such a mod. however sounds like something one of the environmental mods should have in it.

I want to say I've read here that the periscope wake is tied into the torpedo wake.
I wish it could actually create a small wake instead of the tail. The tail is fine at slow speeds but when moving at 3-4 knots it should visibly kick up water |
Orion
agreed, that's what I'd like to see too. I'm guessing it's hard-coded as I'm sure one of the modders would have had a crack at it by now.
It's obviously not a critical issue (just eye candy) but just one of those things that would add yet a little bit more to the authenticity of the game in my view.:D |

there you go. Its a roundabout way of doing it. But it does work. |
Huh?
Sorry Manitoba I don't understand what you're showing with that link. The pic shows what looks like a torpedo wake ahead of the periscope??
Anyway it doesn't do what I'm after which is actual "splashing" of water as in the effect from the conning tower submerging or the bow wake on a ship etc. |

ummm...maybe one can find a way to tie in the CT wake when you dive (the splashes when the water reaches the CT)
just a thought |
Hmmm, interesting
Sledge, you may be onto something there but perhaps the bow wake being a smaller "splash" effect could be duplicated for the periscope?!?:hmm:
I'd try it if I knew how, LOL but there's a helluva lot more modding experience in these forums than I've got so maybe someone will comment on the feasibility. thanks for the feedback. |
