depends. i need a police clearance certificate for a job in south africa. not being in london, it's turning into a pain in the ass to sort out.

Are we talking about a CRB Clearance (enhanced or otherwise)?

@jimbuna

no, subject access check of the police national computer. i sent the relevant docs to a buddy in london and asked him to hand them in at a police station, as i was told it would be ok over the phone. of course, no one wanted to sign for the papers ("more than my jobs worth, mate" etc.), so i mailed them in. called after about a week (since receipt is supposed to be mailed back immediately) and of course, "we haven't received anything."

i'm sitting around sucking my thumb because it's the last thing i need before getting a work permit.

I'm afraid access to the PNC is STRICTLY MONITORED, 5 STAGED PASWWORD/CODE PROTECTED.....and fully traceable.

Your best bet/option would be to send again by registered post I'm afraid.

If your able to get through to the actual section that perform the electronic interrogations (civilian staff) you can always try the soft soap method.

I'm afraid that's all I can suggest.

thanks for the advice, appreciate it, i'll try reg post. the people that answer the phone are nice, but they're limited in how they can help.

are you met/ex-met?

You want a toe dude? Believe me, there are ways. I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock. With nailpolish.

I appologize to anyone who hasn't seen the Big Lebowski.

OT: My favourite part of the world, my parents live in Norham and I proposed to my wife on the beach in front of Bamburgh Castle.

Jimbuna 11-09-08 07:15 AM

Well they certainly live on the right side of the border :p

Bamburgh Castle is situated in a beautiful part of Northumberland :up:
