Active sonar Pinging in the hunt for the Red October and DW

The difference between the pinging in the movie and DW or SC is so wide.

In DW you hear a high pitch sound while in the Hunt for the Red October you get a bouncing sound of a small stone being thrown off the hull.

Which one is more realistic. The hunt for the Red October imo is a very realistic movie well apart for the hydrodynamic propulsion system :).

I would like to mod the pinging sound to sound more like the hunt for the red october but I have my doubts since I have no knowledge whatsoever on how an active pinging sound like in RL.

Any clue? I'll share the sound which I took from SH3 mod if you want it or provide you with the link.

I mean the name is active PINGING and not active HISSING.

I remember a thread back then when everyone seemed not to like the default SC pinging sound effect.

Anyone can tell me which one is more realistic?

REAL active sonar is cool as heck sounding. It is a shame that I can not give you a good example.

Might as well stay with the DW sound. It works and most people know what it means.

Maybe I can give you an example:
