Obama's grandmother died yesterday. She was 86.

Sad. It's a shame she didn't get to see her grandson after the election, but she did cast her vote for him.

I said my farewells to my grandmother just the weekend myself - she's a crook old duck, but no surprise for someone who averaged 3 to 4 packs a day for most of her life. I can imagine how he feels.

Out of curiosity, was she the grandmother who said he was born in kenya??

It was the grandmother who had raised him, so I'm not sure on that. I don't think so, but I'm not sure...

Cheers - I'm just glad my fiancee got to meet her, thats what she wanted - it was tough as she lived the other end of the country.

Nope, she's the maternal grandmother. His paternal grandmother (who still lives in Kenya) is the one who allegedly claimed to have been in the delivery room when Barry was born in Kenya.
