Resizing textures?

Hiya guys.

How would SHIV like it if I took a batch converter and made all the textures, say, 50% smaller? Did this way back when flying FS2004 and had a HUGE frame rate gain, like +20FPS or so. Would this work with SHIV?

C'mon guys, anyone tried this? I'd _think_ the game is capable of scaling textures, i.e. it should pe possible to replace say a 1024x1024 DDS with a 512x512 one. Am I right?

Now I know I'll lose some detail and quality with this, but to me, getting a good framerate out of this aging system matters much more anyway. I've no money to spare on upgrades just now, so I'm forced to experiment a bit ATM if the game just knows how to cope with it...

Anyone?

Why don't you just try yourself, take the textures of let's say the Yamato BB, resize it, and then run a mission or the museum thingie and have a look?

In other words, I don't know the answer ;)

Untick "Use high resolution textures"(or something similar) from the SH4 graphics settings. It does exactly the same thing.

Got that untuck already, but I still want them smaller. Hey, OK, I'll just give it a go and report back if something weird comes up.

Thanks all.

Then you're gonna have to resize the 512x512 textures, because unticking that option just makes the game use them instead of the 1024x1024 ones.

Rgt Fincuan, will do. S!
