My U-boat men!...

"... Six years of submarine warfare lie behind us. You have fought like Lions! The continuation of our fight on the remaining basis is no longer possible. U-boat men! Undefeated and unblemished you lay down your arms after a heroic battle without equal."

That's it. The war ended. After receiving the message I sailed back to Bergen, with 5 torpedoes still in tubes. On my last patrol I sank 45,000 tons, which makes a total of 1.95 mil. tons. Not bad for the first GWX career :smug:.

I wonder, what do you do after that last message from Doenitz? Continue the patrol like nothing happened? Sail back to port like I did? Or maybe escape to Argentina?
Maybe I should have created a poll... :hmm:

Oblt. Meduza over and out. (reporting from POW camp :D)

the fact that we are one of the nazi hideouts by excellence does not mean that you are to make fun of us...
wait.. we got Kurt Tank, the Horten brothers! the joke is on you!
(i rather keep to myself the fact that Eichmann, Skorzeny, Mengele and "Barbie" at LEAST passed through our territory with our president knowing and allowing. just to name some)

Paul_IronCoffin 11-01-08 08:32 PM

..and you're somehow proud of that?

actually it was an excuse to attack Peron, the president back then. He issued thousands of blank passports to let nazis into the county.
he did a good job letting Kurt Tank and Horten* in, those two fellows boosted the FMA (military aircraft factory) and designed some cool fighter planes that could have been the envy of the world. I got carried away thinking of the Pulqui II and the FMA IA 37... the point being, He let many nazis into the country, and he was a pro-nazi demagogue.
And i'm NOT proud of it, i was just trying to go for a "funny comment" but then added the comment about Eichmann and crew to show that the former was just a joke and what he did was wrong.

*Kurt Tank designed the FW 190, the TA-152 and TA-183, and Horten was the father of the flying wings (just some "interesting facts")

Sail to Argentina, dance the tango in Barrio Recoleta and play polo. There are some cool beer joints in La Florida. Some excellent tailors can fix you up with a civilian suit.--Definetely, go to Argentina. :D

BTW, congratulations for surviving GWXWWII!

meduza 11-02-08 09:33 AM

Thanks, Brag

I started my new career, with Type II. What a change, going from XXI to Canoe!
Still on the first shakedown patrol, I spotted the British merchant, and my first reaction was to dive and flood the tubes. It took me a few seconds to remember that they are our friends now... :D

I think after my last Patrol my crew wil be putting in for a transfer. We travelled over 10,000 km,shot 3 swordfish, sank 2 small freighters, then got jumped by a Tribal class destroyer which proceded to reduce my U boot to a one engined leaky tin box!!!!!!God knows how i made it back!!!!

You're only saying so because you've been there and done that!

Your biography would probably prove to be an even more entertaining and engrossing read than the best fiction, Brag! :yep:

meduza, you might grow to love the "Einbaum". Those Type II boats may be small but they're almost as stealthy and quiet as a XXI, with a small profile which renders them hard to detect both visually and using ASDIC, making them perfect for harbor and coastal raiding. Crew management is also much simpler. You do have to pick your shots carefully, though. It's a shame the designers couldn't figure out a way to squeeze in a few more torpedo reloads.

If you plan on sticking with the Type II, definitely grab the upgrade to the IID. It has greater range than the IIA, thanks to larger fuel tanks, and a better surface speed with the more powerful diesels.

Managing fuel consumption in the IIA can be a real challenge when your patrol sends you out to places where you barely have enough fuel to intercept more than a few targets of you still want to have enough left in your tanks to make it home.

I've met the son of one of the sailors of the Graff Spee while he was visiting Germany. He spoke German with a slight accent and loved Argentina.

I don't have a problem with Skorzeny, but the other 3???

I will sail my boat into new york harbor on the surface, 6 years of war and I haven't yet seen the inside of New York Harbor, (sunk quite a bit of shipping outside, though:arrgh!:) I will keep an eye for a statue somewhere near the entrance. That is, if I can survive that long...
