GWX campaign start date

i've recently come back to SH3 from a long hiatus. installed all the latest mods & goodies. and im floating around off the coast of england in early august (2nd flotilla), letting ships go by & waiting for hostilities to start.

am i going to really have to wait almost a month till sept. 3? when france & britain declared war?

where do i change this?

You know merchants were known to be sunk by mines. :D hee! hee!

gutted 10-30-08 09:15 PM

ja... mein torpedoes!

gutted 10-30-08 09:17 PM

i'm guessing flotilla.cfg

ok i see why they set it that way. there's no way to pick a certain day, only a month and year.

sept 1. would be kinda late.. but aug 1. is kinda early.

think i'll go sep.1, not really in the mood to piddle around waiting.

Lots of folks used the pre war time for sightseeing and recon..

From the GWX release thread or similar

Start August 1
Run shakedown patrol for 4 or 5 days and return to base
If SH3commander set to 20 days in port you next patrol will start 24th or 25th August so you can be in position when war starts
As was the case

shakedown patrol?

gutted 10-31-08 03:45 PM

actually now that i think about it.. this may not be a bad idea seeing as how to get around a certain bug you can't upgrade or do anything to your ship prior to your first patrol... or risk getting no renown that sortie.

so yeah, i may actually do this dummy patrol... so i can fill my crew and spend some renwon before my first proper mission.

The first boats assigned to Atlantic (pre) War Patrols were sent out on August 19. You can be one of them if you play your dates right. You have plenty of time to transit the Channel in peacetime and be in your assigned grid when the war starts.

That shakedown patrol also gets you a qualification to distribute to your crew. Handy if you didn't draw a proper engineering officer.

Enjoy visiting the Channel ports and some peaceful snuggling to RN ships before the kaboombah boombah starts. :D

Just don't go taking any target practice because at this date in the game, every ship is classed as a neutral.....and you don't suddenly want to become the sole pariah in the SH3 world. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

yeah.. i found out the hard way.

i played around with the target ships.. and then teleported back to base. i had a nice renown deduction for my "target practice". :-?

i wonder what would have happened if i sailed into port manually?
