Please shortly compare GWX 2.1, NYGM 3.0 and War Ace Campaign 3
Hi folks.
There are many threads dedicated to all these supermods. But the problem is: im was until now strictly GWX user. I am playing GWX 2.1 with many other smaller mods like OLC, Life Boats etc. I have never played any other supermod. Now im in a mood to try both other (WAC 3.0 and NYGM 3). But i wasnt able to find and read here some comparisons between the mods. Could you please write me your experiences and some of your thoughts between these three mods. So for example what do you like in which mod and what you dont n comparison with other. Because for some beginners here is very chaotic to read long and long times about many mods and still dont know the opinions from users about the differences between the mods. I dont want from you to say which is better than other (i understand thats very subjective), but only your opinions and experiences with them and which is more funny or realistic to you. Which is more historically correct etc. :ping: |
Yeap, it would be interesting to compare detail like introduced new ships, aircrafts, skins, environment and especially eyekandies.

What I can tell you is that NYGM is more realistic, less game and more simulation, for most players it would be boring to be depth charged for 4 hours, what you think? For realism junkies, it's a must. I never tested anything out of gwx. WAC on the other hand, has some nice stuff that gwx don't have, like ships finishing their waypoints thru the atlantic and arriving at the ports, other then just disappearing out of the blue, like in gwx. That feature made me interested. So, in resume, what I think is that: GWX - Better gameplay NYGM - Realism above all WAC - Polished details But again, I've never tested anything out of gwx, that's only information that I've read in the forum. |
I've played all three and whilst most of my experience has been with GWX I played both NYGM and WAC prior to joining the GWX testing crew.
All three were designed around their creators version of realism with each of them having their own unique features and flaws which made them quite different flavours of the same game. The best way to find out which you prefer is to play them all and then decide. |
Exactly these informations i want. Thanks. Perhaps NYGM would be ideal for me, as i am realism fanatic. Another opinions?

You could try installing the Multi-SH3 utility. This allows you to use multiple installs of SH3 so you could have a GWX, a NYGM and a WAC version on your hard drive and will allow you to mod and play these at will. It's probably the easiest way to compare these three supermods.
Multi SH3 is at: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=141242 under 'Utilities'. |
Apples, oranges and bananas. All three of them are fruits, have vitamins and calm your hunger. The rest is a matter of taste.
The best advice: Try all three yourself and decide  you won't regret downloading and keeping all those three masterpieces. |
All three are very good in their own right. My suggestion is to install them all and see which one is the best for you.

Or was that an apple or an orange or a banana shell :hmm:  ;) |

To be blunt, I think this "it's apples and oranges" talk is nonsense.
If you don't want to compare then out of politeness, then thats ok, but I certinaly thing they can be directly compared. If you can compare SH3 to SH2 despite their vast differances; you can compare GWX and NYGM with their (relativly) small diffrences. |
If u want to find out which one suits best for u, just RTFM of every three supermods and u will see which more u like by features, bugfixes and so on.
Personaly I never tried WAC or NYGM, honestly was never intrested into them since I found GWX very pleasing from the begining then, until now and I will till I die  BTW PT are u sure about this: "WAC on the other hand, has some nice stuff that gwx don't have, like ships finishing their waypoints thru the atlantic and arriving at the ports, other then just disappearing out of the blue, like in gwx." ??? In GWX 2.1 manual page 42: "Hunter-killer groups now start and end in ports, instead of in the open ocean " So are the ships. I've seen a ship disapearing at the entrance to the port, but not in the middle of the ocean as u say. Cheers. |
