Are you a registered votered in the US, and are you voting 04 NOV 08?

This is easy and I am taking it on the honor system, are you a citizen of the United States and are you voting for the POTUS on 04 NOV 2008? If you want to put down your choice in the comments feel free, if not, feel free.

McCain of course and not a single incumbent.

1st time I have voted in many years.......... :|\\

Skybird 10-26-08 08:55 AM

I'm not voting in that poll, obviously. But in that poll's context:

After that past two elections and their controversies around maniplation and technical unreliability, and the unfolding irregularities now, one is wondering if maybe it wouldn't be better to decide the election at the green table and skip all that crazy campaigning and voting alltogether. With free and democratic elections it has not much to do anyway, if the real decisive numbers are being artificially created, not determined by voting.

Why no option:

I am not a citizen of the US and am therefore not entitled to vote....thank God

I think your right, we should have just one absolute ruler. No votes. He just takes charge and thats it. Definitely gets rid of all the conspiracies and other confusion. This whole voting thing is for the birds.

PS. Seriously I am ex military, ex police, I am sure my papers will be,.. shall we say .. "in order".

Well thank you for your unrequested advice. I'm sure I speak for my fellow Americans when I say how much we value your opinion.

As "The Boss" used to (or still tries to, off key) sing, "I was born in the U S A", registered for the first time in years and cast my ballot already. You'll have to guess who I voted for:hmm:

I think you precisely describe the attitude of masterminds behind the Watergate scandal, election manipulation, and campaign strategists and political mudthrowers all of whom do not really care for an indepedant decision finding process of the voter, but try to prevent right that, and try to sneak inside the voter's mind and manipulate him in any way possible to make him making the mark at the right place of the voting billet. Whenever a campaigner starts a rumour, whenever a politician tells a half-truth or a lie, whenever a campai9gn manager throws mud or starts a show with glamour and bombastic shine - they are about just claijming thre power for themselves and think that is their right. whenever somebody brakes the rule that voters should decide independantly and in knowledge of all facts, it just means trying to take charge - and that's it indeed.

Well, whom to vote for is the result of a decison making process, you8 one decides on the basis of info input, and thus that input, mostly by medias and desoigned by party strategists, is crucial. This is the one big archilles heel of democracy nowadays. Add to that the simple fact that most people not so much decide their vote by thinking hard on what the personell alternatives have acchieved in the past, and how realistic their promises are, but vote by habit only, or by short-sighted opportunism or psychological motivation to express protest, and you see that you cannot work around the probedolm that elected people not necessarily are the better qualified and more competent people. they are just the better media manipulators.

At least the ruling of parties could be ended, but even for that there is so willingness, not on your side of the ppond - and not on our side as well.

Would anyony trust a doctor who did not need to study medicine, but was voted for to get his job as a doctor. Hardly. but in politics, this is possible.

And the never ending problem of corrupting the system by excessive lobbying. Which is nothing else than corruption up to the highest level of government and parliament, if you think about it.

I'm sure he has his own elections to worry about...

I'm a registered voter, but I didn't check the POTUS option because I'm voting for someone who will never be president.

At least I'll get to put a "Don't blame me" bumper sticker on my car, no matter the outcome.:D

AVGWarhawk 10-26-08 04:24 PM

Sure I registered. ACORN showed up and got me six different spellings for my name and I'm registered under all of them. :smug:

In all honesty I did update my voter registration and made sure it is current. There are other things on the ballots concerning the state of Maryland I need to cast my vote on.

I think August's opinion here is quite valid. A Euro opinion on our election has absolutely no value. As I'm sure they don't care how we view theirs. It is amazing to me how some of our members from across the Atlantic believe they have any weighting opr their opinions hold any value on how we choose our elected officials.
