Shortest career ever!
I have just had my shortest ever career, lasting a total of 6 days! Oh the shame of it! I think I should be booted back dwon to bilge rat after this.
But ,before you judge me on this, I sohuld explain. It was august 1st 1942, and a new career in U-501 (type VII/C), and I was assigned to ET53, the first 3 days were quiet, even though I was travelling through the Bay of Biscay. Spotted 2 swordfish on the 3rd day, which I managed to shoot down no problem. Then things got a whole lot worse. I was attacked a further 3 times by Avengers/Martlets. Beofre on the 6th day 2 Avengers somehow caught me off guard whilst I was heading down the Spanish coast. Just as I called crash dive, I took serious damage, which I continued to take as I went down - which I proceded to do, unitl I hit crush depth and ended my patrol:damn: . So I say to all captains new and vets, beware of Allied aircraft from late '42 onwards, they can home in on you easily. Jut make sure you got some form of radar warning. |
Sorry to hear, Smurf. We shall miss you :nope:
Good advice. In RL lots of U-boat were sunk by aircraft while transiting Bay of Biscay. I dive even for string bags. |
Don't worry Herr Buder will be back, although I think it will be a case of going back to the "happy times" of 1939.
|
I'm actually looking forward to making it into '42.
My current and previous careers have never gone past June '41, mostly thanks to new releases of GWX forcing me to start a new career each time. |

You shal not pass 1942.:stare: Gwx bring in 3.0.
|
Yep. Back to '39 I go! :damn:
I might be able to squeeze in a few more patrols before the GWX 3 release but I'll be hard pressed to make it into 1942 before then. |
Want the shortest career ever?
Try my very first career in SH3, skipping the Naval Academy and straight for Wilhemshaven. Crashed into the pier when using the waypoint system in the Map view.... After all that, been depth charged ever since... :dead: |
No Rifleman I think thats just bad luck. And thats why I plot my course before moving!
|
Try dying in the Naval Academy, by deck-gunning a ship and being too close when it explodes.
|
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
That happened to me a couple of times when I started playing SH3! I can tell you that any distance within 500 meters is certain death if the ship you're taking out with the deck gun happens to be a tanker. :dead: |
I know that feeling, But I must ask. Why does being that close to a ship when it explodes and something small hits you kills you.:hmm: That small pice of metal shouldnt sink me.:yep:
|
It's not necessarily just the flying debris and shrapnel that kills you so much as it is the concussive force of the blast crumpling your "iron coffin" like a tin can.
When a ship explodes, it's just like being parked next to a very large bomb! :o |
Veary large bomb. Ive been lucky ive been lucky when I get close.:yep:
|
I dare you to DG a large tanker at less than 500 meters! :p
