Map Grid Messages
Can someone explain to me why the grid references in GWX's radio messages have 4 digits instead of 2? I can't seem to figure out how to decifer them, or is that the whole point?
|
Each of the main quadrants (e.g. AM) is divided into 9 smaller ones. Each of those is further divided into 9 quadrants, which gives a basic two digit grid (i.e. AM 39). Take that quadrant and divide it in a same manner, and you will get a 4 digit grid.
If it doesn't make any sense, take a look here. It is much better explained. :D |
As above. Those radio messages are meant for immersion only and most are real messages sent out during the war to the fleet.
|
Ah, I see.
Does that mean that if you decifer where on the map that position is and race there to help, none of the messages have a matching scripted event? |

Well...that just blows!
I had always hoped to be in the area of one of those radio reports and getting in on the action! I guess this means its time for somone to take upon themselves the task of fleshing out the campaign_SCR file to include those radio reports. |
Oh yes, please do.
It would seem a very bad idea for a cargo ship to send out an open message that they struck a mine and were damaged, complete with exact coordinates. That could land you an easy kill, yes? |
Maybe, but you have to remember you wouldn't be the only warship rushing to that spot.
I'd sure hate to get there and find a few destroyers waiting on me. :o |

Either WBNN or GWX Mission Orders will sent you orders to go to scripted events such as the sinking of the Bismarck or Dunkirk. Both mods will also send you the regular scripted messages but Mission Orders Lite will only send you to the scripted events and none of the others. It's made for GWX (either 1.03, 2.0 or 2.1) so unfortunately only supports GWX and not the other supermods.
