Sim.cfg question

I would like to try to get the IJN sonars to behave more like they did in actuality.

I have designed two wargames for use by the USN, but these were set in the Cold War and modern day. We used actual at sea exercise results to populate the database. Plus we had more money to throw at it and so our detection tables were broken every two thousand yards and modified by submarine and escort noise conditions as well as the sonic layer depth, etc.

If anyone knows what the following Sim.cfg values mean or where I might go to find out, I'd be grateful.

[Hydrophone]
Sensitivity=0.15
Speed factor=20 (I assume this is escort max sonar speed)
Noise factor=0.40

[Sonar]
Sensitivity=0.05
Speed factor=15
Enemy surface factor=200
Lose time=30

There are other lines in these files, but I believe I know what those are already from an exchange with Ducimus.

Also, periscope detections seem out of whack from my view as a retired USN Captain in destroyers.

[Visual]
Sensitivity=0.1
Fog factor=0.1
Light factor=4.0
Waves factor=4.0
Enemy surface factor=50
Enemy speed factor=8 ;25
Thermal layer signal attenuation=5.0

Thanks.

I found Ducimus' cliff notes post on these and it helped a good deal. Unfortunately, AI sensors.dat can no longer be opened with notepad.

Mikhayl, thanks a lot; I'll check it out.
