My brother in law will be bringing soon the Kilo class book from Patrick Robinson, and I was wondering where else to look for new books ambiented in the Cold War. Thanks Bill :up:

It was OK but frankly it wasn't very gripping. At no time do you really feel any danger for any side. Worst of all is how ... uh, unfinished it is. It seems to be part of a series, but most "series" books (say a Tom Clancy, Dale Brown or even a Patrick Robinson) are also intended to be read stand-alone, and are structured accordingly. Not this one. It feels like the middle 300 pages or so in a thousand page novel...

That's the big stuff. A few of the little nits:
If you want to use the Russian ranks, stick to it. If you want to Westernize, not so good (IMO), but fine. Don't switch in the middle.

I guess it is brave of the man to try and decipher the BCh system used by the Russians (frankly, I don't think they got it all straight themselves), BCh-3 is definitely not only about the sonar system, as the book tries to make it sound.

The leaky Russian reactors get real old on the 100th repetition.
