Interesting 3Dmodels spotted (obj converted)

Hi everyone!
A friend found for me those models, for works after Laconia's end (she's beta testing now) :

Author isn't know °_°
Averof is really detailed, Angley TOO detayled, Hornet is a little poor but the deck is really good.
I need an impression ^_^ what do you think about this??

Apparantly would be excellent addition for game.

Actualy, we already have Averof in GWX. Not too active ship to have two models of her. May be it could be revorked into KMS Schleswig-Holschtain?

So called Hornet is doesn't look like Hornet at all (there is already one exported from Sh4) It looks much similar to USS Yorktown, that would be a great luck to have both in Sh3 and SH4 along with its inheritor USS Essex Class.

USS Langley could be the most easy to model since her haul is similar to her sistership USS Proteus, which we already have and she just need flight deck to be added. Unfortunately, she sunk eraly in the Pacific and thus is of low priority for SH3.

Model Conversions

Acrtually, the Proteus model I kitbashed is just a generic model based on the NAXC/NPTR hull - it meant to be more of a representation of larger, older colliers of that general design rather than the specific Proteus class.

@ VonDos - I don't know where those 3d models came from, but if you don't know who the authors are, I would suggest that you locate them and ask permission before releasing their models in the SHIII (or SHIV) format.:-? I think I might know where at least the Langley model came from (although I might be thinking of another model for CFS2), but I think the users who found them for you might be the best to consult re the location of said original authors.:yep:

EDIT - After a brief but closer look at that picture, I have no idea where that Langley model came from either - I'm thinking of a much less-detailed one (probably less detailed than the Hornet). Also, I would recommend choosing ships other than the Langley and Averoff to work on - we already have a fairly detailed Averoff model in GWX, and the Langley model you have depicts the vessel in her pre-war configuration (she had half of her flight deck removed to serve as an aircraft transport around 1936, and served only in the Pacific anyway). Not that the effort is not appreciated - for example, the Hornet would be good addition, if Grumman doesn't try to make a fuss; we are not Ubisoft employees, but this is still a Ubisoft game and I think everyong here is aware of the settlement terms between Ubisoft and Grumman. Anyway, I do hope to see some UK and US CV's, and maybe some other types of ships, added to the game so keep up the good efforts.

Hi!

My idea related with Averoff isn't do another unit, but make little "make-up" works
on the old model for a new release (if i've author's approvation, yes):

BEFORE

AFTER
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4378/rowus4.jpg

I've send a message to SH3 Averoff author, VonHelsching, one to 3D model author and another one to Privateer (for GWX crew) for authorizations. I'm waiting ^^
This image show the results of 20 minutes of work: enlarged ship (from blueprints proportions), modified funnels, added pipes and modifyed command deck.

EDIT don't ask me to send you this ship before i've the permissions, please ^_^ the answer is NO, this is a moral question!

EDIT2 About VonHelshing, i've see this in his personal profile: he's out from long °_°
Someone know how to contact him?

Regarding the Hornet - there were two Hornets in service with the US Navy, one being a Yorktown class carrier and another being an Essex class carrier. This seems to be the former.

However, there is already a very good Essex model ingame, so I doubt it would be necessary. Also, there is already a Yorktown unit converted by the Trio iirc.

USS Langley would definitely be interesting to see.

Another favorite unit would be the Richelieu, since the work seems to be abandoned.

Langley!!1!

WOW,, My vote would have to be for her , FULL deck version. please, yes yes, I know in 41 she had her deck shortened but I don't care, I would LOVE to have the old covered wagon.

geosub1978 10-03-08 02:22 PM

Von Dos can't you make AVEROF's side turrets pointing fwd and aft instead of transverse?

Furthermore, I believe that AVEROF could be scripted in Mediterranean Convoy System and to the rest Mediterranean operations, like LANGLEY, in Atlantic Convoy System.

Finally, the other American Carrier, is of pre-war ENTERPRISE class (ENTERPRISE-YORKTOWN-HORNET).

geosub1978 10-03-08 02:42 PM

I used to have Von Helsching's phone number:hmm:. Perhaps I can speak with him in the weekend.

VonDos 10-03-08 03:41 PM

Yes, please.
This can be usefull ^^

Hunter 10-04-08 03:01 AM

Why not to release it as addition to Von Helsching's mod that can't be used alone?
