[REQ] Gramophone needle skip at depth charge explosion
Would it be more realistic or interesting to have your Gramophone music take a skip off the record when your u-boat takes a hit? Maybe it could be a dubbed skip/scratch sound, or have a skip sound that also jumps part of the current song on the playlist. :hmm:

I must admit I agree with Phoenix, the likelihood of the gramaphone being played while depth charges are being dropped is very unlikely (silent running is there to minimise the risk of being detected by enemy warships - silent running meaning that everybody on board was ordered to minimise noise to the absolute). No U-boat Karleun in his right mind would have permitted the gramaphone to be played if there was the remotest chance of it being detected by enemy warships. One exception (though I don't know as I was never in a doomed Uboat) could be if the Karleun knew that the inevitable was about to happen and perhaps ordered that it be played anyway?

I was considering that the in-game Gramophone is more for the user during game play. More realistically, I am certain that it would not be used in silent running situations, except for the last ditch morale boost.
The Gramophone sounds are not a factor in the escort detections in SH3. Maybe an occasional needle skip that occurs while cresting a wave as you travel on patrol would be more suitable? Also, maybe a Gramophone shut-off order on silent running? Just some thoughts. :|\\ |
First thing I do when a ship or plane is spotted is to turn the music off. It only comes back on when the action is over and I'm in cruise mode again.
But that's just me.:sunny: |
I dont even bother with that thing. I need some new records.:yep:

Were you watching "The Enemy Below" recently?

you're right about the singing:yep:, but it was the noise factor I was trying to point out. Weather it be a gramaphone record, or live, the results of that kind of noise emission will most definitly end in disastor.

I think we're going to need an expert opinion on mixing music with combat.
Where's Balz? :p |
