Update on the Cavalla/Seawolf Park status after Hurricane Ike

Update on the Cavalla/Seawolf Park status after Hurricane Ike. The Cavalla Historical Foundation have set aside Oct 11 as a field day for us to climb all over the sub and clean, repair, and in general, help get Cavalla shipshape. If you want to help, please bring a set of old clothes and gloves.

Also, donations are being accepted for this event. You will get a special t-shirt, I suggest not working in it. Wear it proudly at special occasions.

When you print out the form to mail it in, please be sure to mark the name with SUBSIM so the Foundation will know we are helping as a group.

Name: Bobby Riggens, SUBSIM member

thanks!

No Paypal, sorry.

Some good news:

Jeff: I just talked to John. I'd forgotton to ask about water levels in the ships. The Stewart is OK. He checked the Chill and Freeze boxes where we were storing our paper records and it is "high and dry".

The Cavalla has some water in the ATR and engine rooms. It's a little above the deck in the ATR, but he said about 2-3 feet in the engine room bildges. He indicated that the other compartments did have some water come in - probably through the ventilation lines, but it's minimal. The water in the ATR and engin room bildges is oily, so it cannot be pumped out directly, but we'll need to get a disposal truck in for that.

Not good. Not good at all.:nope:

Would it be possible for you to forward my donation to SubSim to go to the Cavalla ppl? I mean, you see who donates and I'd be more than happy to help!

I wonder how long it will take to get it fixed.:-?

Thanks, actually, you've donated to Subsim so many times, I will earmark a portion of your existing Subsim donations to the CHF in your name. What size t-shirt do you want? :know:

Frick the T-Shirt. The money that goes to the posting & making of the shirt is better spent to the Cavalla project. Just take the amount you want from my donations to SubSim and use them to the the Cavalla thingy and I'll send some more tomorrow or monday.
