U-Boat Types in Flotillas

Hi there,

Finally recovered my password \o/

And finally SH3 is working again, with SHCmdr, GWX2.1, OLCGUI and in 1600x1200. I hate to install this, btw.

Now, for my first test patrol, I'd like to cheat a little. I want to start with an IX-B in 1939. Question is how do I do it?

I figured I need to change the flotilla.cfg in the GWX Alternate Flotilla Mod (as this is activated and required by OLCGUI). However, If I change it there, I still can't chose the sub in SH3 Commander. I haven't found a flotilla.cfg there.

Can someone help me out and tell me what I need to change so it works with SHCmdr and GWX/OLC?

TIA,
snwcrsh

Hmm, actually I notice I cant even start with a type VIIB. If I select that in SH3, start a new career and use the same flotilla (GWX names, sh3cmdr files patched with GWX2.1). But, I always Start with a IIA and 500 Renown. What's wrong? :(

EDIT: Never mind, got that figured out (VIIC41 player sub mod was not activated). However, still puzzled on howto add a IX-B for 1939

Huh?
No it isn't.
In fact OLC GUI is incompatible with the alternative flotillas mod.

Anyway to answer your question, by far the easiest way to get an IXB in 1939 is to select "IXB" in the SH3 Commander "U-boat" selection box. :know:

Mate your install sounds screwed. That mod has nothing to do with the U-boat you start with. It just changes the VIIC 3D model. RTFM. :p

Uhh okay... I probably got something wrong there.

Okay I have now removed about all GWX mods (Integrated Orders and Enhanced Damage come with OLCE/OLCGUI afair, but i will read that up again).

However, I Can't choose the IX-B in SH Commander. Only IIA and IVB. I recopied the SH3-Commander files from OLCE but it doesnt change anything. Something is wrong.. but I dont know what....

Change your starting flotilla in SH3C.
Not all flotillas have IXB's in 1939. Find one that does.

I tried. I only have the choice of 1st, 2nd and 3rd/7th Flotilla, all without IX-B.

Yes, I remember now that should be different.

If anyone could tell me what exact files I need to copy to SH Commander to fix that... I'll be grateful. Or would removing Commander and installing it again, then moving your files over it?

(Actually, I am a bit confused anyway: GWX2.1 comes with SHcommander files, so does OLCE. Do I need to copy both? If so, in what order? :o)

Thanks for helping me with these probably very basic issues. I really appreciate it. I will get "into it" again soon enough I hope :)

Wilhelmshaven will have IX boats in 1939.;)

However, you will need to start 1/2 months later than the start of the war. Use SH3Cmdr.

I never had to start 1/2 months later.
Maybe the "historic U-boat availability" checkbox in SH3C has something to do with it? :hmm:

snwcrsh 09-22-08 10:11 AM

Hmm, even at 12/39 there is no IX-B available in my SH3 Commander. However, the Flotillas are named "1st", "2nd" and "3rd/7th" -- is that even correct?

Hm nope, doesnt change anything. Hmm.

In what order do I copy the files into SH3 Commander? The ones from GWX2.1 first, then the ones from OLC?

I would try to delete and reinstall SH3Commander -- I might have goofed something.

It makes no difference.

You still have alternative flotillas enabled if showing 3rd/7th as the 3rd is part of the Alternative flot mod

IIRC IXB comes online Dec 39
Cant recall flotilla but think its the 2nd

Try unticking the use historical uboats in SH3commander

Otherwise you will need to alter flotilla and probably basic cfgs

snwcrsh 09-22-08 10:44 AM

*grmpf* reinstalling SH3 and copying the changed files from GWX2.1 and OLC Ubermod did not change anything. I have the following options:

1st Flotilla: II-A, II-D, VII-D
2nd Flotilla: VII-B
7th/13th Flotilla: VII-B

(sorry, not 3th/6th but 7th/13th).

EDIT: AH! December works, yes, IX-B is then at 2nd :-) Thanks!

But I am still a bit in worry.. is something broken id the Flotillas show up with these names? Guess 7th/10th is as it should be?

snwcrsh 09-22-08 11:54 AM

Actually I looks like the Flotilla names are changed in SH3Commander after you started the first game. Next time you go back to SH3Commander the Flotillas have the actual names (Weddigen, Salzwedel, Wegener)

IXB is available at 2nd Flotilla in October 1939. And I have historic U-boat dates on.
