Today I saw a real beauty

I was on my way to central Stockholm to do some arrends. When crossing Tranebergsbron over the lake Mälaren with the subway, I spotted a plane heading towards the bridge. (Tranebergsbron=The Tranebergs bridge). I could barely believe my eyes, but I took out my camera and went to the other side of the train to wait until it passed over us. And sure enough, it was an old DC-3, or C-47 if you wish.

I am very pleased with these photos, not to talk about the quality! I had no idea my camera was this good!:D

This made my day:up:

The DC-3 what a beautiful airplane.

I have been in several on static display and would very much like to get a ride in one.

Classic aircraft.

Probably Bromma Airport, not far from that location.

Great proven and reliable workhorse of the past.

Your country must be updating their airfleet :p

;)

A flying legend, a taste of freedom and adventure - and Hollywood. A flyer not liking the DC3 is no flyer.

Neener neener:p . When I was 13 I joined the local Civil Air Patrol. They got us rides in all kinds of planes, including a C-47. Of course that was 45 years ago.

When my dad first went to work for United in 1952 he was a co-pilot on DC-3s flying up and down the California coast.

Wouldn't surprise me if this would be the standard freighter of our military soon, with the cuts from military budgets we've had in recent years:doh: :dead:

Oh and Skybird pretty much summoned up this plane! Good on ya mate!

Oh and Steve, you and your father are a very lucky pare of chums! At least in this regard...

A C-47 occasionally flies over head, we think it's a Dutch based guy who pops over into the UK from time to time in it, beautiful aircraft, beautiful sound

A nice quote I just heard about:

The only replacement for a DC-3 is another DC-3.:yep: To think that the plane is still used at some places as cargo planes....

bert8for3 09-20-08 05:55 PM

There was a regional carrier some years back called Cape Cod Airways. They flew some DC-3's and I did a few flights on them. What a hoot. Felt like you were really flying.

Those little smudges make it look like it is being shot at with Flak.

I have a dream to static line jump from a CH-47 some day.
