Get a standard SH4 disk or go get a Gold Edition?

Is there a clear advantage to getting the Gold Edition SH4 disk, rather than installing SH4 from a standard SH4 disk? What can't you get here (patches, U-Boat missions?) that you can get by going with the Gold disk & it's included extras?

Biggest advantage is that the gold edidtion includes all of the patches. Saves a bit of grief of getting 'up to date'.

Furthermore it is the ONLY way to get the latest patch... 1.5?

It also adds some content as in the U-boat campaigns.

So.. yea I would go for the gold edition.

So there is a difference between the $10.00 D\L U-BOAT Missions and Gold Edition ? :-?

Besides that it includes SH4.

That's right. The Gold Edition only has the two bundled together. If you have SH4 with the UBM add-on you already have the Gold Edition.

A CD-R or CD-RW achieves the same goal. :p:lol:

Does the Gold Edition require the DVD to be in the drive to run? After installing the downloaded version I no longer needed the DVD. Then I totally forgot I'd bought that, went out and got the Gold Edition to "try out" the U-boat stuff and saw the SH4 icon on my desktop. :)

With Gold after install you don't need dvd in drive.

Yay! I can safely reinstall without fear of needing to find my missing original DVD. :P

Better yet, it allows for making multiple installs (need mutiSH4 fo saving the games).

This will be a must in the future as some of the Pacific and Atlantic mods will have conflicts- not because of the modders, but because of the way some things are handled in the SH4 game engine.
