Thnx snakeeyez for photo.
To anyone who has been to Seawolf park, please add what you see missing/ needs to be fixed.

I guess we need to take an inventory of items needed and what needs to be fixed. Hopefully be Oct 9th, power and access will be on its way to being restored to the island.

The Stewart's parts trailer is missing! All of the park's tools were stored here, along with various naval artifacts that were in the process of being restored. This will be very expensive to replace:o . (located aft of the Stewart)

The cashier shack is destroyed, as is the souvenier shack.

Stewart's starboard foundation washed out.:o

Can't tell if the torpedo displays are still there. The sail from the sub in the parking lot has been turned around.

Is Seawolf park a city or State park? Who will right the Stewart back to port? That looks like some serious digging!:o

Sailor Steve 09-15-08 05:36 PM

We will! Isn't that why we're going there?

NealT 09-15-08 06:15 PM

Cannot tell for sure, but it appears the torpedoes are gone from both the bow and stern areas.

Also looks like the Stewart was almost picked up and set back down by the way she is listing.

Looks like both of the entry shelters on the Cavalla will have to be rebuilt.

Lots of work to do, that is for sure.

Looks like a right mess. Hope they can repair everything without too much effort / cost

UnderseaLcpl 09-16-08 02:51 PM

It looks like they'll need people who can probably....do.....stuff.

I can do that!:D
Let me get my my E-tool!

nikimcbee 09-16-08 02:59 PM

We will defineatly need tools, and I see tool prices and supplies going up in the Houston area:x , and it's not like you can bring them on the airplane. Who manages the park (city, state?) they need to know, once the situation stablizes:lol: in Galveston, that they'll have a willing work crew on Oct9-12.

In addition... Neal may be asked to work some overtime at the Oil company because of Ike...
We could all volunteer to put in an hour or two each sittin at his desk!
I believe the only requirements are is you must understand the programs Solitair and Freecell :p :know:
