Cheat to reveal ship positions?

Hi

I'm on TMO and RSRD (+UBoats). I haven't seen a target for absolutely ages now, and I'm convinced there's something wrong with my installation.

Just reinstalled all mods, but I was wondering if there was a cheat I could use to show me if there actually are some ships floating around.

I'll turn it off as soon as I know I'm not the only boat in the ocean I promise ;-)

Thanks

In SH3 Sensors.cfg will allow you to set the range for both "ImportantRadioContacts" as well as "OpportunityRadioContacts" to whatever range you want. I believe it is the same for SH4 (I can't check now for technical reasons too convoluted to explain). Crank them both up to 3,000 km and you should see lots of contacts within that range. You will have to do that before you start a new patrol tho.

Thanks for replying - I'll give it a try. Reinstalling the mods didn't help and I've used us 2 tanks of diesel now looking for something to sink so I'm pretty sure I'll have to restart my career.

That file does exist though, so I'll make the changes and see what happens - thanks!

And on the lighter side, check the tonnage you have already sunk. Maybe you have killed the whole Imperial Fleet!:o

I've already made so many responses to crusing empty oceans threads..I just don't have the heart to do another. :nope:

Somebody please respond.

They're there, I'm sure. You just need to find a shipping lane, preferably at a chokepoint and actually look for them. Don't expect the game to be throwing you bones like usual. After installing RSRD you actually have to do some work, believe it or not.

:hmm: Have a look in a port and see if there are any ships there. If so, they're bound to be steaming that vast ocean as well. ;)

They are there, but in RSRDC they get scarcer later in the war. If you are in 1944 or later it can be very hard to find them. It's not a bug or a problem with your install, it is historic. Also, we are told the Japs did not favor convoys until later in the war, so early on you find lots of single ships.

Hey, I found one, you were right hehe :-)

Followed the advice of finding a choke point along some shipping lanes. Right near Singapore, there's a warship waiting to be sunk. Nice.

Sorry for doubting the game - never again :)

I started a new TMO+RSRDC campaign last night and my entire first hour of "gameplay" was heading west. No contacts, nothing. :)

Ahh well! Almost to Japan, so hopefully it'll pick up.

The way I found something was to look at the shipping lanes on the poster that comes with the game, then sit right in the middle of one. Loads of ships. Singapore harbour is also full of warships.

So, like the other posts said, there are plenty to go around, it's just a case of finding them.

BTW the ship I sunk was going backwards as it did a patrol of the harbour - small bug methinks....

Im playing with TMO my first patrols on sh4 and i like the empty ocean, but its not empty, its because you dont get radio contatcs, i can make, some of this contacts to appear by modyfing the tool i made for sh3, anyone interested to cheat a bit :p?
