Problem sound waves continous

hello

i am running GWX2.1 with das boot sound mod and ultimate aircraft mod. something has happened now i can hear the sound of the wild ocean constantly, even when im submerged! :damn:

has anybody else had this problem before and how to fix?

thanks

Yes this is a known quirk/bug for SH3. Somehow the sound gets stuck in a loop. It should eventually go away, although it may be longer than you desire. To solve it right NOW you could save and reload. But I usually sit it out.

I've heard it with stock game, but since I've been using my sound mod, that issue disappeared... At least for me... I think its related to the quality of the sound.

This is the sole reason I didn't try the excellent-sounding aircraft sound mod (no pun intended) because sound mods always seem to cause this problem on my machine. Even GWX causes it, though rarely (and I found a way to minimize how often it happens in GWX) but I think the SH3 sound engine is just flaky.

Check the length of the sound files. If a file is longer than about 15 seconds there is a chance that it might loop and repeat itself. This has been a problem with the 'Creaks' files in the past. If the looping file is not that long, there might be a problem with whatever triggers the sound.

The funny part is that I've never had a problem with 'Ambient Interior' or 'Waterburst' or 'Fire', all of which are several minutes long. On the other hand, those files are so repetitive anyway, how would you tell?

lo mate

ive had this problem too...as have many......did you alt-tab out of the game at any point. this is a setback of this....the ocean sound will play non-stop.

as said before.....exiting and reloading will work...but to stop it in the first place then refraining from tabbing back to desktop helps.

if you didnt...then its just unlucky and infuriating :damn:

the only time i have noticed this on my machine is when i submerge in a way that changes my view from any outside crew position to the command room. and the view change took place under time compression.

if you surface out of range of land or any other units, save the game, exit, and restart sh3 then load the game it should stop the looping - for now

thanks for the helpful replies. i saved the game last night so hopefully it will have gone away when i load back up.

yes m8, i was doing exactly that. i am using OLC2 so at the moment i keep ALT tabbing and playing snippets of the tutorial vid before i plot and attack (I haven't got it all memorised just yet). so perhaps thats why it happened.

Philip, i downloaded and tried to install your sound pack before i opted for the das boot one. but when i tried to enable it in JSGME it seemed to freeze and the progress bar never moved. at first i assumed this was because it is such a large file transfer...so i waited...and waited...and then i wasn't sure if it was a problem of a different kind so i quit. have you had thsi problem reported to you before? :-?

In my machine it takes more than 5 minutes to enable.

In some machines, I think that this time could be extended to 10 or 15 minutes.
