Early war: Historical loadout of torpedoes?
Just wondering, what was the historical loadout of torpedoes inside early war U-boats? What was the ratio in G7a and G7e inside a VIIB uboat?
I ask because I feel like a cheat when I fill my Uboat with either sort of torpedoes exclusively. So, I am currently doing the following: Bow torpedoes - 2 TI G7a in tubes, 3 in reserve - 2 TII G7e in tubes, 3 in reserve - One TI G7a in external reserves Stern torpedoes - All TII G7e in tube, reserve, and external |
Myself, I fill My U boat with The steam Powered Torpedos. They seem to be more realiable. I also do it WW1 style and fire torpedos when the ship is at a certan angle to my boat, so the faster the better the better. just to tell you I hit 95% of the time depending on my attitude when Im Fireing.;)

You'll find that level of information in the Clay Blair books http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Speaking of the Clay Blair books, they are kind of hard to get by in the Netherlands. anyone happen to know of a decent, easy source (and cheap if possible)

I think what he is after is the actual historical loadout/numbers of torpedoes used :hmm:
|
Well all external torps should be steam
Electrics needed too much looking after so were not left outside Was there a defined loadout for within ? Or down to commanders I know some commanders later in war took no external torps as no chance of spending enough safe time on the surface to reload them so were pointless |
