how does one use this file? ie, how do i install it?

STEED 08-28-08 09:33 AM

From the read me........

Just pop the folder in your MOD folder and use the JSGME or put them in by hand
don't forget to keep your originals in a safe place if you want to revert back to them.

Strange it is a 7 zip 4.57

Try here >>> http://www.filehippo.com/download_7-zip/

I just dl the file myself and no problem in opening it.

The file appears to have no file extension, that's where the program confusion comes in. If you right click it and choose an option from the 7zip list, it works fine. Or Just rename the file to end with .7z and click on it. Ain't computers wunnerful?

hmmm, i can open it with 7zip and winRaR but not with winzip, very strange but i got it.

thanks, webster

Reason's simple.

WinZip is designed to open .zip-files, and that's it.

7Zip can open multiple compression types (.rar, .zip, .7zip) as can WinRAR (same types).

Another advantage of 7Zip or WinRAR is that they offer a way higher compression rate, shrinking filesizes much more.

WinZip is simply outdated.;)

In wat for a folder must to in ?

Welcome aboard, werwil0.

If you use JSGME, you don't need to back-up the files which a mod changes. It does that for you. When you disable a mod, the files revert to how they were before you enabled it.

If you install a mod manually, before you copy the mod files into the appropriate folders, just make a new folder in the SH4 main directory, or in data and call it "BackUps" or "Originals" and copy the files into it. They'll sit safely there in case you need to restore your game by deleting the ones you've modded and copying the originals back. The presence of "BackUp" or "Originals" folders doesn't affect the game, since they're simply not recognised and so ignored.
