Having one of those days...

This is what you get with a $100 oil change these days. 6 quarts Mobile 1 Synthetic - $66, 1 specialty oil filter - $12.50, Labor to put it in - $15, crease in your hood after it hits the roof while your car is going up on the lift - Priceless!

Notice the line in the reflection of the clouds in the background.

They are arranging to have it fixed on Monday. Not sure I trust 'their' guys, but whats the worst that can happen? They screw it up completely? Then they buy a new hood I guess.

The hood of that car is cursed anyway. A harmonic balancer fell off the Mercedes in front of me on the freeway one day, flew up and smacked right into the old hood on this very same car. An inch higher and it would have easily passed through my windshield and killed me. So after being splattered with oil from the Mercedes and coming to my senses, I chase the guy down. He thinks I'm some weirdo with an oil splattered car and refuses to pull over! So eventually, his car is completely drained of oil, so he has no choice! Friggen finally got him to realize what had happened. He offered me $1000 at the scene to not have it go through insurance. I denied that and took it to the shop. Ended up costing over $3000 for a new hood.

I have lots of stories like this.

I take it that the service was completed by a Saab dealership? I've read on multiple occasions of ppl getting their oil changed at a 'drive thru' oil change place and the oil plug not being put in. They have a major engine lock up a few miles down the road and the oil place fighting them on the replacement engine.

I had this happen to me on my old 9000 Aero. Dropped the entire oil change onto the freeway. Oil place had to pay $13,000 for a new engine.

Anyone care to want to guess what the estimate came back on this thing is? Just got back from the body shop.

I have a Saab story myself.

No one wants to guess?

The reason I am asking is I fell over when I heard!

Mine was a little different.

I was driving a 1974 Volvo 164E (loved that car). It had an 8 quart oil pan. I took it in for an oil change. I did not realize that the chimps only put 5 quarts of oil in. They drained 8 quarts and replaced 5. Using advanced differential calculus that means that I was running 3 quarts low.

It was only by dumb luck (the only luck I seem to have) that I checked the oil about a week later. I still don't know why I checked the oil since I just had the oil changed. Imagine my surprise when the dipstick came out covered in dust.

I could have burned out that wonderful 3 litre straight six engine. Luckely there was no damage and I was able to top it off.... well adding three quarts is not exactly topping it off but you get my meaning.

Soooo if you get your oil changed and you have a car with an extra large oil pan, make sure they the chimps fill it up with all the oil it needs.

Friday wa my day. Came home from the city and found some @#$%&*! had side swiped my car, taking out the side mirror on the drivers side and scraped two panels of the car.:stare:

Then I found out my insurance woun't cover me due to the fact I can't name the driver (they took off and left no details:hulk:), even if it wasn't my fault! Now I'm faced with the repair bill:/\\!!

Always maintain 'Both' Comprehensive and Collision unless the car is only worth $1000.

If you analyze your statement, I bet you only hate 50% of humans.

Since no one is guessing. That little dent above will cost $576.28 to fix.
