Drivers all ok?

Reece 08-17-08 07:47 AM

If it's the same machine & has worked in the past & a complete new install fails to work then it is more than likely hardware fault or your system (XP) has a problem, does it run stock 1.4b?:-?

thank you for a quick response

platapus yes i think my drivers are ok checked them

reece yes it is happening with stock 1.4 also

i can load and play for a while then my monitor shuts down but if i hit the windows button it goes off straight away

one of my cooling fans as started making more noise could this be the cause

A monitor is not likely to cause a program to crash. You probably mean your graphicscard (big difference) inside your pc case (or it's onboard your mainboard). It's a good chance the fan of your graphicscard chip has gone dusty and can't cool enough. I had that a couple of weeks ago, right when we had the worst temperatures outside. I wouldn't buy a new pc right away if you do not need it otherwise. Just clean out the fan (and check the CPU and RAM while you're at it) and see what happends. But BE CAREFULL, static electricity charge kills your chips!!! Ground yourself before opening the case or holding the card!!! Or you will need a new card anyway.

From your description of the problem I would guess that the video card is not seated into the slot properly, turn machine off, remove video card, clean fingers & carefully push back into slot, also make sure your monitor cable plug is screwed in firmly!:yep:
