Do I need Gold Edition?
 

Thanks so much- what a great link! My laptop passed with flying colors. One thing I am still unclear about- do I need to get the "Gold Edition" as seen on Amazon (release date 11 Aug 2008) or will the "standard" edition work with Vista? The test site seemed to look like the standard version would work, but on Amazon there are two editions and only the one about to be released shows Vista compatibility- is this just misinformation on Amazon's part? Also, I take it that if I get the standard edition I can download the patches for the U-boat mods for free here on Subsim?

A belated welcome aboard, Willy:up: Either game will work on Vista, though you should install someplace other than the "Program Files" folder for the easiest time with mods. If you want to play U-Boats, you need to get the Gold Edition or the regular game plus the add-on. It would be easiest just to get the Gold Edition and you would have the disk instead of downloading the add-on. Most mods are going to be based on version 1.5 (better known as SH4 + UBoat missions add-on).

The Uboat missions add-on isn't free (pretty close though @ $10 for the download version in the US), so you'd be ahead financially to go ahead and purchase the Gold Edition.

All (versions of all) games today work both on XP and Vista.


The Gold/Collector's Edition is for those who are fans of that specific type of game and the box will always include some extras, not just the dvd.

Surely you need UBT add-on but what we really need is next SH4 patch! :yep:
