A top US biodefence researcher has apparently committed suicide just as the Justice Department was about to file criminal charges against him over the anthrax mailings that traumatised the nation in the weeks following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
I wasn't even aware of this. I thought that the FBI had hit a dead end long ago on this one.

For once the FBI was conducting an investigation without the press meddling into it.

Of course just because this guy committed suicide does not mean he is guilty. He may have just wanted to avoid what happened to Hatfill, although Hatfill made out pretty good in the end.

I guess it all depends on how he committed suicide.

If he was found in a remote area with his hands tied behind his back; wearing a blindfold; is shot in the back of the head multiple times from different rifles from a range of 5 meters; and no guns and no car were found at the scene; how could you doubt suicide?

It could happen. :yep:

That does not seem to adhere to militant islamic traditions of commiting suicide and convincing unsuspecting civilians to join you with little or no warning.

I bet we can find a lawyer to defend this man, nonetheless.

A lawyer would defend the Devil himself for enough Money or Fame.

well since this man has not been tried let alone convicted of a crime, I would imagine that he was worthy of being defended.

Back when this country had a viable Constitution, a citizen was presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. A quant custom of days gone by.
