will my laptop work?
 

Hi- Longtime SH fan, been playing it since II. I want to get IV and just bought a new laptop that I hope will support it: 1.6 Ghz dual core Athlon, 3MB ram, 250GB 5400 rpm HD, and Nvidia Geoforce 7000 w/256 dedicated and 756 total MB video ram, running Vista Home Premium, with, I assume, DirectX 10. Can anyone tell me how SH IV will run on it? Do I need to get the Gold Edition I see on Amazon that will be released in a week or so? And is XP a better OS (in general and for SH specifically) than Vista? Many thanks-

Thanks so much- what a great link! My laptop passed with flying colors. One thing I am still unclear about- do I need to get the "Gold Edition" as seen on Amazon (release date 11 Aug 2008) or will the "standard" edition work with Vista? The test site seemed to look like the standard version would work, but on Amazon there are two editions and only the one about to be released shows Vista compatibility- is this just misinformation on Amazon's part? And I take it that if I get the standard edition I can download the patches for the U-boat mods for free here on Subsim?

I'd get the Gold Edition as it includes the U-Boat addon. :)
And from my experience if the game says it works on XP it works on Vista.
Yes the mods in here are free. But the U-Boat SH4 addon disc is not which is included in the Gold Edition (iirc).
